Guest guest
Ha! I've had the same problem. I mention I'm a vegetarian and I get a nice taste of the Spanish Inquisition. " Whaddaya eat, then?? " - Response- " Lettuce, and that's about it. " " Well I just *hate* salad! " - response- " You'd make one sh***y rabbit. " " I could never be a vegetarian! " - response- " Happy chemo. " " Doesn't this meat look goooooood? " - response- " Not as good as this tasty piece of tinfoil. " Drives me nuts. Comments like that, coming from a meat-eater, will make a room full of people chuckle. Similar comments, coming from a vegetarian, will make a room full of normally good-tempered people rack their brains trying to remember where they put their pitchforks and lynching equipment. My shriveled 4-foot-nothing grandmother will cook up a big meatloaf even after I've told her she can help her osteoporosis by cutting meat out of her diet. My dad will tear into a steak with great joy immediately after swallowing his blood pressure medicine. I've got an uncle who's got mental illness out the wazoo and won't switch to a vegetarian diet even though it's an easy way to lessen the effects of depression. Why in the heck are we criticized for being " pushy? " We're not the ones killing ourselves! I have had people come at me that way because I am vegetarian. A long time ago I was wearing a shirt that said vegetarians are earths best friends and some guy tried to start an argument with me about it. i agree, I think just saying we are vegetarian offends some of them. I have had more meat eaters try to get me to eat what they do and then anything in reverse. I think the one's that call us pushy are really just making most of it up. Guest guest
I used to tell one person to stop as I am not insisting they eat my food and I don't care what they eat. If they want to try what I am eating I am more then happy to share but don't force your food on me. I also kind of embarrassed the person once. He said what are you having for dinner I said sausage He said what kind sweet, hot, I said big. He didn't bug me about what I ate for a while. gayle
Guest guest
Maybe he was being generouse with his time and trying to be caring. It also may be because the weedy look on one person's flower beds in a neighborhood really stands out and affects the beauty of the whole neighborhood for everyone out walking by enjoying nature or driving thru. In our last neighborhood, we had a neighbor right near the entrance that eveyone drove in that had realy weedy over grown " flower bed " and it just made you cringe and resent that person and others who didn't try to keep the neighborhood look neat and nice. It affects everyones home prices and being able to sell their home in the future to know they aren't buying into a neighborhood that is going downhill. I'm just trying to get you to see it from other perspective. Some folks don't realize how not keeping up their lawn scaping affects others. The weather is really nice for doing some outdoor yard work, which is what we are planning today. - Kadee M Kadee Sedtal, who is on her fourth *very* strong rum and Coke and has chosen to go into " angry drunk " mode tonight... reason unknown, though it could have something to do with the neighbor offering to weed my flower bed. . Maybe the neighborhood can find something real to worry about. A few weeds isnt going to hurt anyone and really some of those cloned, Stepford lawns are boring and excessive water eaters. And weeds are a necessary part of nature. I'm just trying to get you to see it from other perspective. I hardly think you have enough information from her one comment to be telling her what you think she needs to hear. Some folks don't realize how not keeping up their lawn scaping affects others. Some people have nothing better to do than to elect themselves the neigbhorhood monitor/bully and nitpick what others do with their own property. Kadee Sedtal No shouldnt, i have always wondered about these Yard Nazi's, some of them need to find something else to do with their time. Guest guest
It's military housing, so property values aren't an issue... it's not like the whole yard is overgrown, just a few weeds, and with two young children, dogs, rodents, a husband, and a house to take care of I just don't have time to pull weeds every time they come up. This neighbor of ours really doesn't like us, and in addition to " offering " to weed she wanted us to move our kids' swing out of the yard (definitely no eyesore) as well as my daughter's tricycle, which she rides often. She's just snotty, that was the only reason, and it's not like our house looks bad or anything, just a few weeds, while theirs is something out of a Martha Stewart show. I certainly shouldn't be required to keep my yard absolutely perfect just to please an overly picky neighbor. Guest guest
Well, honestly, another reason I don't want my weeds gone is because they have these pretty purple flowers... I don't have the heart to hurt them! My daughter loves picking them sometimes. They're nice weeds, really. And there aren't but a few of them, and they're all in the flower bed. Maybe God knew I didn't have a " green thumb " and planted something I couldn't kill. Kadee Sedtal zainypagan wrote: Maybe he was being generouse with his time and trying to be caring. Those plain green lawns without trees are just so boring and ugly.
