Guest guest
hi, i made a tofurkey last thanksgiving. it was good, but a bit pricey i thought. it suggests basting it with OJ and i think tamari (?), but looking back in retrospect, i think you can baste it in any kind of marinade to give it a better flavor. i wsn't big on the tempeh drumsticks, but i loved the jerky and the wishbone. good luck, and use the left overs for sandwiches and such.... - <swcs Friday, November 17, 2000 8:34 PM Tofurkey > Hello! > > I just puchased a " tofurkey " from my local health food store. I had to supplement with more stuffing, but it was very tasty. I didn't care for the " drumsticks, " but the regular " turkey " part was very good....so good that I bought one for Xmas as well. ~debbie

Guest guest
My family didn't like the Tofurkey, but we may try the Now and Zen Un-Turkey this year. The tofurkey is really simple to cook, but so is the Now and Zen it appears from the directions. They both come in the packages with the dressing and gravy, but I make my own. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. " Mohandas Gandhi linda's Growing Stitchery Projects: womyn47 - subprong I don't think I've seen a cooked tofurkey before. I decided to look it up and I must say it looks pretty darn good. Guest guest
They are pretty good. i do prefer the Quorn brand roast, but for a vegan diet the tofurkey or the Now & Zen brand unturkey would be the way to go. i haven't tried or seen the Now & Zen one around here yet. Has anyone tried it before? Did you find it pretty much like the tofurkey? ~ pt ~ Autumn will heap the granaries high. Guest guest
We are trying the New and Zen Unturkey this year. My daughter doesn't like Tofurkey. I didn't feel like coming up with some exquisite main dish (LOL) so she agreed to try the New and Zen. What is Quorn? Vegan? linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. Guest guest
Thank you for the opinions on this everyone. Much appreciated. I was kind of surprised on how small the product was. Looks good though. Shawn
Guest guest
The Quorn brand roast has egg whites in it. Why they do this i do not know. In fact i don't think any Quorn brand vegetarian mycoprotein foods are vegan... yet. i should write them and ask that they do their best to change the formulations so they can be vegan and thus meet all our dietary and/or ethical needs. ~ pt ~ Dismal November! me it soothes to view, At parting day, the scanty foliage fall From the wet fruit tree, or the grey stone wall, Whose cold films glisten with unwholesome dew; To watch the yellow mists from the dank earth Enfold the neighbouring copse; while on as they pass The silent rain-drops bend the long rank grass Which wraps some blossom's unmaturéd birth. ~ Charles Lloyd, 1775 - 1839, To Autumn ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " linda " <lindai81@c...> wrote: > > We are trying the New and Zen Unturkey this year. Guest guest
I love it, too, Ezevia. Since DH isn't veg except at home, it's a great compromise for us. He really loves it. Guest guest
HI: I make tofurkey.. I have mine defrosting and I am making it tomorrow. My daughter does not like stuffing so every year she and I do different things with it. We take the stuffing out and one year we did something with canned pumpkin. Last year we took the stuffing out and put mashed potatoes in it. Gayle
Guest guest
" Tofurkey " Definition: Sitcoms may joke about it, but what, exactly is Tofurkey? Tofurkey is the ingenious brand name of a seitan based mock-turkey product that serves as a vegetarian alternative to turkey on Thanksgiving or other occasions and comes complete with stuffing, gravy and even a " wishbone " . Although Tofurkey brand is the most well-known, several other brands of mock-turkey are available, though they are usually commonly known as Tofurkey as well. Because Tofurkey is also a brand name, many types of Tofurky foods, such as deli slices, mock bratwurst and of course, " Tofurkey Jurky " can be found at your regular grocery store or health food store. Also Known As: tofu turkey Common Misspellings: tofurky.
