Guest guest
When I think of Thanksgiving, the first thing I think of is " dressing " . That wonderful, decadent spicy and chewy bread stuff with gravy on top. I never had anything like this the whole rest of the year when I was growing up, except for Thanksviging. The way my Mom makes it is with about half cornbread and half bread and lots of celery and onions and broth. A few years ago she forgot to put the butter into it, and it still tasted great! So now, she just puts half the amount in. I consider dressing to be " dangerous " , and something that should not be kept around the house regularly. But, I sure do enjoy it as a special treat this time of year. I rarely make them for myself and look forward to them on Thanksgiving. I never ate them growing up, not until I was in my late 20's probably. Now I'll gladly pass over white/mashed in favor of baked sweet potatoes. -- Liz ______________________________\ ____ Music Unlimited Access over 1 million songs. http://music./unlimited

Guest guest
Prosage is a frozen 1 lb log and has a sausage flavor. I'm guessing it would be like the Give me Lean Sausage that some of you have talked about. You can also use the I haven't tried the Give me Lean - Vegetarian Roll " Sausage " though. Worthington makes the Prosage and you can find it in the Adventist Book Center/Nutrition Centers. www.adventistbookcenter.com You can also use the Vegetarian MorningStar Farms " Sausage Style Crumbles " found in the frozen section of any grocery store. Here is what the package looks like http://tinyurl.com/f92tg This is delicious and I hope you enjoy it. Judy Prosage and Jalapeno Dressing INGREDIENTS: 4 T. butter or Smart Balance( I use Smart Balance 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped onion 5 TBSP.Jalapeno pepper(pickled), diced and minced 1/2 pound Prosage, ( I thaw it and shred on my mandoline) 4 cups of Pepperidge Farm Herbed Stuffing Shreds 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups warm water 3 TBSP. Bills Best Chicken Like Seasoning 1 egg, beaten DIRECTIONS: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9x9 inch pan. 2. In a heavy skillet, melt 4 tablespoons butter over low heat. Saute the onion and peppers until soft. Place Prosage in skillet; crumble and cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. 3. Combine Prosage mixture with Stuffing Shreds, warm water, Bill's Best Chicken like Seasoning, egg, and salt . Mix well, and transfer dressing to prepared pan. Spray with Smart Balance Buttery Spray(found in the Butter area) 4. Bake for 45 minutes.Serve with Jellied Cranberry Sauce slices on the side or make your own Cranberry sauce ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: Time for a new question of the week.
