Guest guest
I agree about Organic foods. They might cost more, but they are so well worth it I read in the Wall Street Journal many years ago that the FDA tests for less than 3% of all the and other crap they inject/feed, etc etc in cows to produce more milk, get meatier faster, and so on. Is it any any wonder the hormones they inject into animals is now showing up as all sorts of health issues for humans? Personally I think it is a contributing factor as to why children start developing younger and younger. A leading casue in the increase in Cancer and other diseases. IMHO: The only reason why the animals never get these diseases and suffer the long term effects of being pumped with TOXINS/ POISONs, are because they don't get to live long enough for anything to develop. And if anything does, they'd never tell us anyway. When will the rest of the world wake up to this?? Guest guest
I agree absolutely. Unfortunately - it's also important to remember that " organic " is an FDA (i.e. government) standard just like anything else. The definition itself can be a bit sketchy at times -- they even tried to include raw sewage as acceptable fertilizer in the first few drafts of the legislation! And free range just means " having access to the outdoors. Leave a cage door open for 1 minute and it counts! So, while organic is definitely better than conventional, the best of all is local. Get to know the farmers who supply your food. They might not be able to afford to be offically " certified organic " but if they love the land they work, you can bet you'll get a better " product. " Not to mention less fossil fuels will be used in to get the produce from farm to table.... , Secret Shadow Paws <secretshadowpaws wrote: > > I agree about Organic foods. Guest guest
I guess so. Depends on the person really. I like her quote and I want to copy it. This is a vegetarian email list not a religious one. I just happened to like what she believes is true. Next time I will contact the person directly instead of using the list so as not to start anything- I hadn't forseen that anyone would care really. Guest guest
Greetings and Salutations Danielle: You are more than welcome to use that quote. That was very kind of you to ask. Actually religion plays a part in why some people are vegetarians, like the Hindus. It isn't really off topic at all. If no one says this one is right, and or that one is wrong, there shouldn't be any conflicts in an open discussion. Hello Jigilou Snicklefitz: Yes, I have recently been getting educated about the baloney behind the term " Free Range " . It makes me all the more proud, I became a vegetarian. With the wisdom of people like you, I am getting educated about the truth behind using the term " Organic " . Guest guest
There are those, be they religious or vegetarian, who are militant. They feel it is their duty to convert, failing that, to oppose those who don't share their view. Those who have found happiness and contentment in their choice, want to share it with others, to help the spiritual or physical health of those around them. Then there are those who are insecure in their choice and hide it away, practicing their religion or vegetarianism in secrecry and those who, because they don't agree with the choice of others, feel they need to belittle that choice..... , Secret Shadow Paws <secretshadowpaws wrote: > > Greetings and Salutations Danielle: You are more than welcome to use that quote. Guest guest
Dear Dotty: You are so right about that. I am happy being a vegetarian, and letting everyone else eat what they choose to and why. I choose the live and let live approach to that. If people ask why I don't meat I tell them. Sadly there are some who still don't " get it " even after I explain my reasons. One person thinks I am anti animal because I don't eat them. How can I be anti animal when I have seven dogs and a rabbit??? Life is strange and so are people. Secret Shadow Paws Only those who are INSECURE about their religion, try to convert others.
