Great question. My daughters and I always enjoy a day of baking, several kinds

of cookies, candies and bars to share with my husbands co-workers. We make up a

seperate plate for each one in his department with a nice assortment. They love

it and we have a lot of fun coming up with different recipes to use each year

and make together.

We also make up a big assortment plate each year and take to church for light

refreshments after the service.

We just love the holidays.

Question of the Week:

The holidays are coming up. Will you be giving edible

gifts this year? If so, what?

Yes. I'm going to give myself a big lasagna and probably a pie. I'm also

thinking of baking myself some snickerdoodle cookies, and for my stocking I'm

going to give myself a box of chocolate covered cherries.

As for other people, I think I might take a stab at those glass jars with the

different layers of ingredients for cookies or something... haven't really

thought about it really. Except that pie. I've thought about that a lot.

That is a neat idea, I haven't ever sent Jeff to work with anything. I might try

that one of these days. It'd be nice to have guinea pigs to try new recipes on!

I am hoping too. Probably brownies or cookies for my sister, and I'd

like to make a banana cream pie for my Dad, but how well do they ship?

I mean, there's a definite right-side-up on something like a pie.

Otherwise, I may make a fudge. All would have to be vegan. They're

not (though my Dad is at least vegetarian), but I am... and the treats

must be tested first, after all. ;)

Could you post the recipe for that banana cream pie when you have time? That

sounds awfully good. :)

i usually bake tons of cookies and quick breads to

give as gifts each year. i also make baskets filled

with fresh fruit, the cookies and breads, chocolate,

teas, and coffees to give as gifts. i'll probably do

the same this year. i was thinking about making

cheesecakes for each of my son's teachers, a basket of

goodies for my aide, and bags of a variety of cookies

for my co-workers and neighbors. i'm not sure what

i'll do for my 20 kids....books, perhaps.

i'll post some of my favorite holiday cookies recipes.

I bet they would love it. My husband's co-workers are always telling my husband

that our daughters get an A+++ in Home Ec. LOL They are making all kinds of

things of treats to send with him. Makes for a more positive atmosphere at work

when folks show care for each other.

Hi! I've been reading all the answers from the group members who

enjoy baking and giving all those delectable goodies! I always

enjoy receiving them!

I also like to give edible gifts, but mine are more in the way of

neat purchased canned and jarred things like hot sauce or chutney

that I've found that I like and think the recipient will too.....or

exotic teas--things like that. I figure it can go on the shelf and

keep for awhile and then be pulled out and enjoyed long after the

holidays are over. I guess it's the lazy way to gift with edible

goods! LOL!

But, hey! don't want to discourage any of the bakers and candy

makers out there!!!!! I LOVE those little plates laden with goodies!

I'm going to make a cheesecake for my co-workers. I

made my first cheesecake last week to bring to my

sister's house for Thanksgiving and it was delicious,

so I'm going to try it again.
