Chanda I see these growing all over the place. DO NOT EAT THEM unless you

get someone who knows mushrooms tell you if they are edible or not. There is

one lawn here that is covered with mounds of these. They are absolutely

gorgeous and quite firm to touch.

They look wonderful. I went looking for edible mushrooms and was surprised

to see how many looked almost like these.

At Whole Foods last week there were mushrooms that I had never seen. One

was $24.95 a pound. I don't know what they were and I wouldn't know what to

do with them.

The only one I buy is baby bellas.

Wish I could help.

shrooms in my yard

Can anyone please identify these mushrooms for me?

they have been growing with the edible " puffballs " that I always get. They

are beauties. I wish I knew if they were edible and what they are.

I posted pics of them, please take a look:

Chanda,

From your picture, the mushrooms look like they may be " Dentum

Repandum " . They are definitely a tooth mushroom as in the dentum

name. With mushrooms it is always best to err on the side of caution.

I would call up the county extension service to see if you can take

it to them to identify. It is too tough to identify just from the

picture. Some are easier to identify from a picture. If they cannot

identify it, then ask if therre is a local mushroom club or person who

may be able to identify it. If it is dentum repandum, it is edible.

They leave a white spore print. You cannot go just by the spore print

though. If the print is not white, the it is definitely not dentum

repandum. It would be fun to take a black piece of paper and set the

mushroom teeth side down and see what color the spores leave,

especially if you have children.

O I don't know about that. Have you ever been to a whole foods and seen their

mushroom selection? The lobster shrooms are red!

I joined a for mushrooms and one experienced fellow says that it is

probably edible with 99% certainty it is the honey something mushroom.

I wouldn't eat them anyway, considering my dog may have fertilized them :oD

but I was just curious. This isthe first year I have seen them. I always get

puffballs, which are definitely edible (look like a big baseball) LOL

funny, my sister has a deck on the back of her house, and the door to the deck

got buckled due to poor construction, which left a little gap at the bottom.

Last year it rained a lot, and it took her a while to notice that right by that

door, under her dining room carpet were apatch of little mushrooms, LOL.

we cooked them up for diner that night ....... nah, just kidding about that

part.

They are too pretty to be edible. And, the colors are too nice. Instant poison

I think
