I tried them once in a stir fry but I think I cooked them too long and they got all slimy. Maybe I need to give them another shot. My local natural foods store makes the best vegan " chicken " salad with TVP and a bunch of other stuff, but they don't always have it. Yep, gonna give this another try. Would be another idea for lunch which can be problematic at times. TM
Guest guest
My DH ate some of the morning star chikn starters and said they were good! LOL He thought it was real chicken. And he ate them plain not even in anything! Later I said... so you liked the chicken that way? He said yeah it was a little weird but it tasted really good. I never told him it was chicken ... I just had it out from what I cooked and he ate it without asking... so I guess I didn't really *trick* him but still... this is from my self proclaimed carnivore husband who hates vegetables and hates that I am trying to cook more vegetarian meals. So looks like I can sneak these in without him knowing so I have a lot more options. I, on the other hand, didn't like them! Guest guest
Have you tried the Lightlife Smart Strips? I like them better than the Morning Star. Guest guest
Oh man, those MS meal starters are great. My hubby likes the steak kind best. Sometimes we'll cook up a whole bag and eat it plain. I'm glad your hubby liked it! I say you ought to tell him now that he's admitted he likes it. Then you get to point at him and have one of those glorious " I told you so " moments. Kadee Sedtal All-new Mail - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster. Guest guest
This is funny! Don't you just love it when your meat eaters just go yummy over something veggie! My little brother- well he's 6'2 so does that still count as little? LOL- he is the same way. Calls me hippy and stuff for going vegetarian. So I fixed him some of those Morning Star or Boca spicey " chicken " patties. He rants about how good they were and can he have another one. Yada yada yada. So funny! I'm glad DH likes them. You'll have more fun sneaking it to him ) Talula , " Rachel Lucas " <mommytogavin wrote: > > My DH ate some of the morning star chikn starters and said they were good! Guest guest
I've made Chik'n salad out of them and it turned out great. The trick, I've found, is to bake them. I usually toss them with oil and throw them on a baking sheet in the oven for about 15 minutes or so. Gives them a great texture.
