What spice combinations do you use when cooking dried chickpeas, red

beans, pintos, or black beans? I'm familiar with pinto beans, but I

as wondering what variety of spice would add different flavorings.

Pinto and black I use a diced up jalapeno, garlic, onion, cilantro,

cumin and diced up green bell pepper.

redbeans and chickbeans I use only onion and then salt when cooked.

This spice thread is really great. I've been trying to use more spices in

my dishes, but generally don't have much of a clue! Thanks for the great

tips!

I put chopped olive oil, onion and garlic in the water with the beans (usually

some combo of pinto, black, whatever looked good). I add cumin, ground chiles

or chili powder and a little salt.
