Guest guest
Congratulations Laura! My partner and I are hoping to start our family later this year. We'll both be first time moms too. People have already commented on how it's not healthy to raise a vegetarian kid, etc; we whole-heartedly disagree, as long as the protein gets into them whether it be tofu, beans, etc, they'll be fine. There's healthy vegetarian eating and then not-so-healthy ~ we've already made our transition to more healthy meals so all should be good. Again congrats! Cindi Laura Wingfield <Laura.Wingfield wrote: Hello everyone, I think it's time i announced my news. I will be leaving the group shortly, although not just yet, as i am no longer on a slimming diet. I'm 8 weeks pregnant! I'm very excited about being a first time Mum and looking forward to raising a happy and healthy vegetarian baby. Unfortunately at the moment i'm having terrible morning sickness, which is why i haven't been around very much but it is slowly getting better, i think. I had a scan yesterday and saw the baby's heartbeat so we are reassured that all is well. The picture is at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/56565105@N00/157115213/ for those who wish to take a peek. I'm hoping to stay around for a while to get recipe ideas and maybe i'll find something yummy to get cravings for (apart from cherries which is my current thing). Any tips greatly appreciated. Thanks, Laura x Cindi The newly wed Ms. Drake-Martinez
Guest guest
Thanks Cindi. Haven't had any comments about raising the child vegetarian yet but i'll have to make sure it's great grandad doesn't try to sneak it meat! He's a notorious meat eater and teases me about being veggie. I'm sure he'll respect my wishes but i don't know if his concern for the 'welfare' of his grandchild will overcome it. Good luck with starting your family too. We'll prove these people wrong! Take care, Laura x On 5/31/06, Cindi <cindi93069 wrote: > > Congratulations Laura! Guest guest
We're all thrilled for you, Laura. Love the pic of the Mini Winger at the link - looks just like his/her mama and dad already, I think? Now with that 'name' you're rather asking for everyone to write in and give you a prospective name LOL I'm only good at naming cats and dogs, so give me a little while to think <giggle> cuz I think 'Fido' is taken . . . Hope you're feeling well again soon - it's a great time for you and one you'll always remember. (Or so they used to tell me - but it's so long ago for me that, er, huh, mmmmm.) Big hugs and stick around for as long as you can, won't you! It's great talking with you again, and I'm sure everyone feels the same. Missed ya!! Love as always, Pat
Guest guest
Congratulations, Laura! What wonderful news. You should stick around, though, even if you aren't on a slimming diet. You have really wonderful ideas and give great encouragement.
Guest guest
Thanks guys. I'm hoping to stick around until i get too busy really so i should be here for a while yet. Finally starting to feel like a person again so i'm off for a haircut - i might aswell look like a person too! I haven't done anything with it for ages as i've felt so ill. I've found i can't eat much dairy at the moment anyway but i'm really struggling with drinks. Water goes down fairly ok but that's about it. I love my cups of tea and have bought decaff but i've totally gone off it. Nightmare. Fruit juices that are too acidic aren't good either. So i don't know what to drink. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Gurmeet, my husband suffers from acid reflux at times. He's never really been told much about it so i often wonder which foods help or hinder it. Good luck with finding out more and i hope you feel better soon also. Guest guest
I have acid reflux and have kept it at bay by switching to non-fat dairy and rarely eating spicy foods. Sort of a boring diet, but it keeps me from being in constant pain. --Sylvia , gurmeet kaur <gurmeetkaur1 wrote: > > Ok, I thought you got acidity. I am also suffering > from acid reflux. Guest guest
I'm searching for that magazine and it appears that it hasn't been printed since 2003...is that right? And the online newlestter doesn't exist anymore either. That's too bad. Do you know of any other good veggie mom/kid magazines? Thanks! Guest guest
Laura, when I checked online about Vegetarian Baby <http://www.vegetarianbaby.com/> and Child, it said it was last updated on March 27 this year. I got a lot of interesting hits on a Google search for " vegetarian +baby " : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en <http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & q=vegetarian+%2Bbaby & btnG=Google+Sea rch> & q=vegetarian+%2Bbaby & btnG=Google+Search from Maida Citizens for Pets in Condos, http://www.petsincondos.org South Florida Vegetarian Events, http://www.soflavegevents.net

Guest guest
I did some research to find scholarly research on vegetarian diet and gastronomic disorders. It's easy to find pop stuff, but I prefer to find more scholarly stuff. http://www.bhj.org/books/diets/chap3.htm Unfortunately, most have to be purchased, including http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp? Guest guest
After the spinach scare with E coli, we now have a lettuce scare with lettuce. This will be especially hard on Nicole Ritchie and top models in the world as they will not have anything to eat. Former President Clinton helped forge an agreement with 5 large companies who help supply food to schools around the country. the new agreement is named: " No child left with a big behind " .
