Guest guest
I buy in cases on a lot of stuff that we use frequently, like meat substitutes, frozen veggies, canned tomatoes, pasta, frozen fruit(for smoothies), frozen juice concentrates and other things that have a long shelf life. When I can get to a place that makes great bread, then I buy it and freeze it. I don't have a good place close by, so stock up when I find it. I love Multi- grain with seeds French bread, Ciabatta Bread and Rosemary Olive Oil Breads for making sandwiches with. I stock up when places have good sales on things we use often. Judy Wow, you shop every other week? I am there every other day!!! AMyF
Guest guest
What do you do for things like banana's, pears, apples, etc? My son eats at least 2 meals of fresh fruit a day and really I am at the store every 3-4 days buying fresh things for him. I hate it but I like to give him fresh stuff! ) Rachel ~ http://www.thelucastribe.com ~ KUSTOMIZED KIDS ~ http://www.cafepress.com/kustomizedkids Baby & Kids, Pregnancy, Natural Parenting, Wedding, & Personalized Clothing Designs Also lots of Halloween shirts this month! - wwjd Thursday, October 12, 2006 11:49 AM Re: Re: Question of the week - Amy I buy in cases on a lot of stuff that we use frequently, like meat substitutes, frozen veggies, canned tomatoes, pasta, frozen fruit(for smoothies), frozen juice concentrates and other things that have a long shelf life. Guest guest
Apples usualy last longer than those other things you mentioned. I too enjoy fresh fruit and for those things, I pop in and get what is on sale at the grocery store or drop into the produce stand about once a week. Bananas we usually buy though whatever the price. They never seem to put apples and bananas on sale and we eat those daily. I do love fresh stuff. We have a garden and things are still coming in here. I'm just getting ready to plant some collards, mustard seeds, lettuce and cilantro. We're hopefully still a month away from frost at least. We've been so hot all fall that those things would not of done well. This afternoon I just picked several bell peppers, sweet banana peppers and a large bowl of assorted types of tomatoes from my square foot garden.
