Anybody use a juicer?

Tried once gave it away, tried twice gave it away too.

No more juicers for me. I just don't click with

them. I do love the crockpot, hand held blender,

mandolin, pressure cooker and my steamers.

I might be the odd one though. I can't stand the

dishwasher and don't use it, got rid of the monster

Kitchen-Aid mixure I used 2 twice and I don't like the

electric can opener.

I did and I got rid of it, too much hassle.

At first I was all into it, then later, ughhh just work. the ones that would

really suit me are too expensive.

what got me is that well first of all I would need one that you didn't have to

clean out after every apple or so, and one that you can put the fruit in whole

without having to chop it first.

gave my juicer away, love my crockpot, want a pressure cooker, want steamers,

LOL, and isn't a mandolin a musical instrument?

I got one of the juicers you can put fruit & veggies in whole, used

it for a week or so. They take up the space of a mixer pretty much.

What a pain to clean the thing, especially the screen inside! And I

really don't want to make " roughage " muffins and bread everyday, so I

had lots of plant fiber to compost. It winds up very expensive juice

too. I'd rather eat the fruit or veggies. BTW, drinking all that

fresh juice didn't do a thing for me either. I felt zero difference,

sorry Jack La Lane!! I haven't used my dishwasher for anything but a

drying rack or storage in the 7 years I've had my house. The only

reason I bought electric " stuff " like jar & can opener, knife, stick

mixer, etc. was because I had to...I've had 2 surgeries on my right

arm and it's kinda not working too well. They just clutter up the

place and I can't wait to be able to sell them at a garage sale!! The

only electric kitchen appliance I truly love is my breadmaker!!

I got rid of my bread machine, because when I made bred they whined that I did

not get it from our local Italian deli ( sigh) I forgot one appliance I do use a

lot, that is my mega food processor. My old one broke, so I got a new one that

you can put the veggies in whole, and it is big for pureeing more soup at once .

cook.

I have had two juicers- waaaay back in the 80's (first one) and 90's (second

one). Two different types. I think I used the first one maybe once, and

the second maybe 3 or 4 times. Years ago, when I lived in a big city, there

was a guy who was homeless (I think, based on how he looked) who was going

door to door trying to sell stuff. I looked at him while he tried to pitch

his wares to me-- none of which I wanted; so I told him so. Then I told him

" but I have something you can have, that someone else may want to buy. " and

I gave him the juicer! He was beaming! Made his day; and got it off my

counter!! lol.

I have had the same food processor since 1986; it was a wedding present.

Love it! But I don't typically use it for chopping anymore... it's most

frequent use is when I make hummus (which is weekly, at least) or black bean

dip, or some such. If it had a larger shoot, I probably would use it more

for slicing and chopping, but anything that goes down the shoot has to be

cut small enough to fit, so it is just not worth it for me, for that.

Yes, I have recently seen the large shoot type....and have considered

it...but need to figure out where it will " live " once I bring it home!! The

pressure cooker doesn't have a home yet--- my housemate (it's *his* house)

would have a fit, if I brought something else home right now!!! LOL.

I'm a gadget person and love to use them and appreciate the help they are to

speeding up things in the kitchen.

I use my electric can opener(wash it everytime), dishwasher(of course there is

still plenty of pots and pans to wash), food processer(love it for making Humus

and other spread and it makes the best bread crumbs ever), Vita Mix, Mandolin,

pressure cooker, bread maker, toaster oven, panini maker, toaster, immersion

blender, regular fresh orange/lemon juicer, zester, and Perfect Juicer Machine

from time to time(I love juice made with apples, cabbage, a carrot mixed

together).

Judy, I do all my juicing in my Vitamix!! You can get more vitamins using

the peels on a lot of the fruits and vegetables, and you can use the zest of

the oranges.

Send some of your recipes if you don't mind, please. I use my Vita Mixer to

make lots of creamy soups and smoothies, but not vegetable juices yet.

HI Sue-

I own a juicer- one of the bigger ones- It's a Champion. It works amazing- is

easy to clean and can even homogenize fruits and nuts to make butters- and makes

the best vegan " ice cream " in the world by running frozen fruit through it. Its

pricey though- I think around $250 or $300 if I recall correctly. I am happy I

bought this work horse of a machine. It will last me forever!
