Guest guest
I really have the hang of the pressure cooker now. I love this thing! Tentil Stew in 15 minutes. Lentil Stew a la pressure cooker 1 1/2 cups brown lentils 1 14.5 oz can stewed tomatoes (I used Mexican flavored) handful of frozen spinach 2 celery stalks, shipped 1 onion, chopped 1 garlic clove, minced 2 carrots, peeled and cuy into 1/4 inch rounds 3 1/2 cups water toss some herbs or a little Mrs. Dash in Place everything in the PC and when it starts to steam, turn on med. low flame and cook 15 minutes. Salt to taste when done. I know a lot of fancy dancers, People who can glide you on a floor, They move so smooth but have no answers. When you ask whyd you come here for? I dont know why? Im looking for a hard headed woman, One who will make me feel so good, And if I find my hard headed woman, I know my life will be as it should -- yes, yes, yes. Guest guest
15 minutes...wow. Did this turn out creamy? Or where there whole lentils in it still? My only experience so far with the PC is the split pea soup, and after only 6 minutes at pressure, it was *completely* creamy, no whole (well, " split " ) peas remained. Surprisingly, the baby carrots were still whole, soft but whole. Thia On 10/15/06, Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > I really have the hang of the pressure cooker now. I > love this thing! Guest guest
Thia, you will love it. Came out perfect, as soon as the little thingy popped up, I turned in on a low flame and 15 mins it was done, lentils were completely whole, carrots perfect. I just love this appliance. It's rated #1 right now. Donna --- " Thia .... " <bipolyf wrote: > 15 minutes...wow. Did this turn out creamy? Or > where there whole lentils > in it still? Guest guest
Unfortunately, mine is the older model (didn't realize this when I bid on it) that does *not* have the yellow pop up " thingy " . The woman on the phone at the company told me to turn down the heat, and start timing from when the steam is steady. (and is sending me a manual -- the seller advertised the pot as having one, and it did not :'( poo. But she is sending me a recipe book, too...which is totally cool, since I bought it second hand, and they aren't getting anything off the sale!) But I still like it, and for half price, hey, ya know? Guest guest
You will be able to tell after you use it a few times, I really do everything very basic when I cook. IT's from scratch and I don't use a ton of appliances so if it didn't have the pop up I'd time it auromaticallty after a few times of use. That's great you get a book too. (;- ) I can time mine on high and tell you how line it takes to build the pressure next time I use it. Seems like it's about 3 mins or so. Donna --- " Thia .... Guest guest
does steam come out of yours (the newer model)? I am sure it took way longer than 3 minutes for me to see steam..... I am sure I will have a better clue when the book gets here. I am just glad that the company offered to send it, given that I did not buy it from them! Not too happy with the seller at this point... I mean, I really like the pot, but, come on! Truth in advertising, please!! I may very well have bid on a different one, if I had known it really didn't have the book. Guest guest
Turn the temp to a high temp to start until or just before it boils. After that, turn it down to low or med. low so the steam control on top is just barely " rocking " . The pressure will keep it very hot. If you do not watch it then the pressure relief gasket will blow off and your ceiling will be a mess. GB In , " Thia .... " <bipolyf wrote: > > does steam come out of yours (the newer model)? Guest guest
The Fagor ones do not use the rocking top. They also have pressure check points that cause an explosion to be very very unlikely. Guest guest
Was that on e-bay Thia? If so, I hope you made mention in the feedback / seller rating part. When I buy on ebay & amazon I always read the seller reviews as well as the product reviews and appreciate ppl mentioning problems. Glad to know you like your pot tho'; I'm thinking of getting one and have been watching y'all get your new toys and play with them Peace, Diane , " Thia .... Guest guest
Yes, it was ebay...and yes, he had a *great* rating. he has written and offered " what can I do to fix this, just let me know " ...but heck! I did it myself- should not have had to, but did. I am deciding how to respond to his email, before deciding on a wording for his feedback.
