Guest guest
me vege-head, friend, non-vege-head, her hubby, just laughs at us both . . . in one of our many trips together the topic of food came up as usual, i enjoy cooking and eating, so does she, she used to be a chef but now is retired. we both try new or different recipes and foods all the time, i'm surprised there are things left we haven't tried by this time. so we were talking this morning about rice flour and having to make a trip to the bulk or whole foods store somewhat near us, (that means it's within 50 miles - give or take a mile) i said (off handedly) 'i suppose you could make your own in a coffee grinder because i use mine for other things' she said nothing. hours pass, we went to a funeral and dinner then shopping. on the way home she asked, 'raw or cooked and cold' (meaning the rice). i quickly replied 'raw of course' (like i had done it a hundred times already) so now my question is, has anyone here done this made their own rice flour and how did you go about doing so. please help me, or she'll ask again when i'm not watching . . . you know how those retired people can get . . . later . . . qupla' hm
Guest guest
I found this How to make rice flour Categories: _Miscellaneo_ (http://www.astray.com/recipes/?search=Miscellaneo) _Bread maili_ (http://www.astray.com/recipes/?search=Bread%20maili) Yield: 1 Servings Soak rice in water for 2-3 hours, keep a little bit of water, and drain away the excess, put the rice and water in a blender, blend for a while,(or stone grind it), pour the grinded rice inside a cloth bag, put the bag in a seive or on something with holes so that the water can be drained away, put something heavy on top of the bag to help draining out the water for a few hours. What is left inside the bag is rice flour, if you are not using it immediately, you will need to dry it before keeping. Guest guest
I grind things in my coffee grinder and it sure works. I have never tried rice, now that would take forever. I don't know, I've never ground raw rice.
