Guest guest
Yum! I love hickory nuts, just eating them. My Grandpa used to crack them for me to eat when I was quite young & I ate them as quickly as he cracked them open for me. We have quite a few black walnut trees in my area, even in the city. I like to use them in baking, but no one around here bothers picking them up & I want them, but don't have a non-messy method of removing the hulls so I can dry the nuts. When I was a child we used to run them through a corn shucker to take off the skins. Rhonda What are some of your favorite nuts and recipes to use them in? Guest guest
I like to chow down on spicy chili flavored peanuts. I eat peanut butter everyday. I guess my favorite nut would have to be peanuts now that I think of it. Joseph
Guest guest
I use slivered almonfs in vegetarian loaves. I use walnuts and pecans in cookies and muffins. I don't care as much for peanuts for some reason. Thanks Judy, you have reminded me that I'm in need of some walnuts. Zena

Guest guest
I don't care for peanuts much either; although peanutbutter (natural) is ok from time to time. My fav's are cashews, pecans, macadamia, and pastachio. I love " cashew and macadamia butter " from TJ's and also the " Chilli lime cashews " from TJ's. but my alltime favorite is raw cahews, plain. I don't know what kind that actually grow around here. I always get them from the store. Judy T. ____________ One of my favorite nuts are pecans and I like them in the " Crazy Crunch " caramel popcorn recipe that I sent recently. I have also been known to cover them in a melted chocolate chip/butterscotch chip and that's pretty good too. I also love cashews and sunflower seeds. Will eat those plain but like cashews in cooking as well. We have loads of black walnut trees in our yard. I'm not going to hull them but often the Dept of Natural resources takes donations so they can start seedlings. I just recently took them all I gathered. Guest guest
Yes, Judy-- it's just one butter, with both cashew and macadamia together, with a bit of salt, and I think that's it! Yummy! Guest guest
I'm belatedly catching up with posts here and noticed that no-one had mentioned brazil nuts. They are more scarce here now, presumably as more and more of the Amazon rainforest is ripped up. They are a lovely smooth and creamy nut. We always used to get them at Christmas time as a treat when I was a child. My favourite nut butter is Rainforest nut butter which is a combination of unroasted brazil, cashew and macadamia nuts. I'm also fond of the flavour of hazelnuts, another reminder of childhood winters. Regarding the floating of peanuts and cashews in Coke or beer - are these raw or roasted/salted nuts? Can you tell I'm thinking of running out to the shops to buy the wherewithal for this recipe, LOL? Christie in Edinburgh , " Thia ....
