Guest guest
>> Does anyone know if it's okay to freeze a carton of soy milk? Does it affect the taste when it thaws? << Why? As long as it's not open, the self life ought to be a couple of years. Before I made my own, I bought it buy the case, and it keeps very well when it's sealed. Guest guest
The carton I bought was from the refrigerator section and the best before date is next week. The label says best if consumed within 5-7 days of opening. - oneal Thursday, July 04, 2002 1:50 PM RE: freezing soy milk >> Does anyone know if it's okay to freeze a carton of soy milk? Guest guest
I bought it at Traders Joe's, and I rarely remember seeing it in a cooler. Instead, it was stacked/stored by the case along a wall. It looks like you need to test your brand. Next time you need soymilk, buy an extra one to set aside until it's a week or so beyond the expiration date. Test it yourself for taste/quality. Who knows, maybe there's an additive that spoils before the soymilk does. Tracy McVeigh [tracy_mcveigh] The carton I bought was from the refrigerator section and the best before date is next week. Could you tell me how you make your own, please? I was just thinking of that this morning. My FIL is a farmer and we have fields of soybeans, and I would love to use them. Thank you. Guest guest
My adventure into ovo-lacto didn't last long as my body decided that digesting eggs and dairy was beneath it so I'm back on the vegan wagon. Right now I'm enjoying Ah-laska dairy-free hot cocoa, which doesn't taste too bad with water but I bet would be even better with soy milk. I have a carton but it's frozen solid--and it's never been opened. Any luck of it being still good after thawed or am I SOL?
Guest guest
I'm like you, I have nothing against dairy and egg, but my body will have none of it. How long has your soy mik been frozen? Maybe unthaw it and see what happens. Guest guest
Let us know how is thaws. I haven't had too good of luck with freezing soy milk, seems to separate. The rice milk freezes and thaws fine though.
