Guest guest
Hi all, I just got my first crockpot. I know that there are many recipes in the files for slow cookers, and I'm planning to put up chili tomorrow, but I was wondering what everyone's favorite one-pot meals are. Thank you! Guest guest
This is my favorite. It is in the recipe files but I copied and pasted it here too: Crock Pot Stew(my spell checker wants to change it to Crack pot stew, so feel free to call it either) This is a good one for a hearty meal that doesn't heat up the house My whole family liked it, and my sons even said how great the gravy was. It is a delicious zesty gravy. <those are my words not their's. They said soemthing more like, " wow this is really good gravy. " 1/2 can of black beansHalf a jar of spaghetti sauce, homemade or store bought, that's about 2 cupsabout 2 cups of watertablespoon or so of better than bouilliantablespoon of Italian seasoning1 teaspoon garlic powder1/4 cup Tamari sauce, or soy sauce2 onionsabout 6 large cloves of garlic gratedveggies of choice, anything you have really, I used:3 carrots1 potato1 of the onions gratedbroccolimushrooms2 or 3 tablespoons of nutritional yeast flakesnoodles of choice ( I use the thin whole wheat noodles)1 cup Mexican Mix cheese, which is a mix of sharp and montery jack (OPTIONAL) Cook noodles separately according to package directions. secret here is the veggies should be sliced thinly. I use a food processor to slice. The veggies are a different stew experience if sliced thinly rather than eaten in chunks, you get more of the zesty sauce per bite.mix all ingredients except for beans, yeast flakes and cheese in crockpot. cook on low for 3 hours, then add the beans, yeast flakes, and cheese if you are using the cheese. At his point it tastes really good without it. If you are not using the cheese it may be thinner however, so you could thicken it up a bit by adding maybe a smooth mixture of a tablespoon or two of flour mixed with a little water to make a thick paste, and stir that in if desired at this point. After cooking another hour it will thicken the sauce a bit.Cook for another hour, a total of 4 hours cooking time on low. Serve over the noodles. you can put the crock pot on keep warm for another few hours, which is really convenient for soccer nights etc. where family members are coming in and eating at all different times, just keep the pot of noodles next to the crock pot with a note that says, " If you don't see a maid standing at the sink, wash your own dish " - robin koloms Wednesday, October 25, 2006 6:49 PM crock pot Hi all, I just got my first crockpot. Guest guest
Start with a recipe from the files. Really whatever you make on the stove in the form of a soup, stew or chili you can do in the crock-pot. They are so easy to use. I start mine on Saturday morning and go out attg day and come home to a meal. ~GeGee~ , robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: > > Hi all, > > I just got my first crockpot.
