oyster sauce? My assumption is that

is not vegetarian. Is it made from

oysters or is it just called oyster

sauce but isn't really made from oysters?

Here is a DIY Vegetarian Oyster Sauce recipe sans MSG. Never tried

it, so whomever makes it has to reeport back:

Vegetarian Stir Fry Oyster Sauce

INGREDIENTS

1 mushroom broth cube

1/2 cup boiling water

2 Tb black bean (Hoisen)sauce

1 generous Tb brown sugar

1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 tsp cold water

METHOD

Dissolve the broth cube in the boiling water. Mix with the brown bean

sauce and sugar, and heat to boiling. Add the dissolved cornstarch

and stir until thickened. Cool and store in a covered jar in the

refrigerator.

The veg versions are mostly mushrooms. I buy a brand called Weitan,

from Taiwan & it has no msg in it.
