Hello All...

Inspired by the lousy weather we're having up here in Aberdeen at the

moment I thought I'd ask..

What is everyone's favourite comfort food?

I can't decide between macaroni cheese and mashed potato...

We love Potato " Chicken " Noodle Soup. My recipe is in the files. We also love

the Italian Vegetable Soup(like a minestrone), which I also have in the files.

And of course Chili with some diced fresh onions and shredded cheese sprinkled

on top.

Yum! For me, it would have to be either potato, split pea or lentil soup. Right

now I have a pot of potato soup going in the crock pot.

Russet potatoes (I had 6 on hand), peeled, large dice

finely diced celery

finely diced onion

Knob of butter to saute onions and celery

water to just cover

salt, pepper to taste

Little milk added at end (or soy milk, your choice)

We'll have this tonight with toasted cheese and a fudge pudding (think fudge

cake with a fudge sauce on the bottom) for afters. There are a zillion hot fudge

pudding recipes out there on the net, this one is most like what I do (measure?

who, moi?)

Chocolate, veggie sushi, and these awesome vegan cup soups by Dr McDougall.

I also like making vegan lo carb pita pizzas using Vegan Gourmet's

mozzarella and veggie pepperoni.

Great topic with it getting so cold around here. All I want to eat

is comfort food. My favorites are: Bean soups (espcially spicy

ones), fresh baked hearty bread, any sweet baked goods involving

fruit or chocolate (but not fruit AND chocolate, ugh!) especially my

mom's carrot bread, Green bean casserole (the stuff with the cream of

mushroom soup and fried crunchy onions) and, most of all, my mother's

veggie shepard's pie; lots of mashed potatoes, sweet corn, onions,

crumbles and cheese with not a green vegetable involved. Delicious!

I think this topic managed to activate all my cravings at once.

He y'all...I'm not really new here, but I haven't been active either.

Good ole potato-chips with green chili sour cream dip (Creamland brand) does

it for me. Of couse, if I ever become vegan, that will change!
