Guest guest
The recipe below is in the files, posted by Chelsea in March 2006. Can anyone tell me how much cardamom is in the recipe? (It says 1.4 tsp) Or even take a guess? I've never used cardamom before. Thanks, Katharine ----------- One of my Aunt's luscious recipes. Apple Cast Iron Skillet Cake 1 cup all purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 cup unsalted butter or margarine, softened 3/4 cup sugar 1 large egg 1/4 cup milk or soy milk 4 apples, peeled, cored and sliced Granny Smith for Gala 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1.4 tsp. cardamom Preheat oven to 350°F. Sift together first 3 ingredients in a bowl. Set aside. Combine 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup sugar in a bowl and beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Add half the dry ingredients to butter and sugar mixture. Add half the milk and beat until combined. Repeat process with remaining dry ingredients and milk. Beat thoroughly. Transfer to a buttered heavy 9 inch cast iron skillet. Sprinkle apples over batter and bake about 25 to 35 minutes Combine remaining sugar, cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg in a food processor or a bowl. Cut in remaining butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle topping over cake and bake another 8 minutes or until cake has pulled away from edge of skillet. Remove to wire rack. ---------------------
Guest guest
I'd guess that's supposed to be 1/4 tsp. Cardamom is a wonderful warm spice that I think is kind of lemony. hth. Guest guest
I'll bet she meant 1/4 tsp., and it's probably a typo. --Celia-- , " kmbloss " <kmhbloss wrote: > > The recipe below is in the files, posted by Chelsea in March 2006. > Can anyone tell me how much cardamom is in the recipe?
