Guest guest Posted November 10, 2006 Report Share Posted November 10, 2006 I'm making a bunch of rice bags for holiday gifts, some for heat packs on your neck, back, where ever ails you, or as a bun/roll warmer to put in a a bread basket under the cloth to keep the bread warm, and of course to eat. The cheapest rice I've found was a 25# bag for $8 at the Indian grocery. I thought $.32/pound was pretty good. Does anyone get it cheaper? Guest guest Posted November 10, 2006 Report Share Posted November 10, 2006 We by rice in Houston, Texas, Jasmine rice, from Thailand, I challenge you find any better in rice in the entire world, at $8.50 or so for a 20# bag. We buy 50 pounds for about $17.00. We use at least 50 pounds in our home each month. Here in the Philippines we collect our share when the fields are harvested. I love using those kind of heating pads :0) I don't know how much I pay, I buy generic brands of rice most of the time unless it's brown rice. When my parents were visiting here a short time later, my sister showed it to my mom, who is a quilter. Well she fell in LOVE with this idea and made several for all or us. BTW if you ever make any, sew channels in it and the rice with stay in place better when you are wrapping it around an achy spot on your body. My mom and dad used to heat the ones she made in the microwave each night, during the winter and put it down where their feet went in the bed. That way their feet stayed nice and toasty.
