Guest guest
I've benn veggie for about 3 months, and as I progress, I need to try new foods. Our local groceries are a little thin on whole grains and have a small veggie sections, so I braved the twenty miles to WF. (I know they're pricey, so I have avoided it. My B-Day is coming up, and I figured I deserved a splurge) When I got there, I'm sure I looked like a foreign tourist, reading EVERY lable, and looking around in amazement. I promised to stick to basics, nothing too exotic or expensive. Having never been there before (sorry WF!) I made quite a mess at the bulk foods aisle. I managed to get small quantites of bulger, lentils, quinoa, and TVP, all things I've been anxious to try. I had so much fun, and managed to not go too overboard (Newman's Own Cookies and Annie's mac & cheese excluded!) Had fun, I'll be back more often, I think, as long as I am as cautious as I was today! Guest guest
I think we spent over $200 when we first went there. But, as each section had samples, we didn't have to buy lunch. LOL I could dive into the olive bar. Sue I've benn veggie for about 3 months, and as I progress, I need to try new foods. Guest guest
Oooh boy, I know how you feel! Whole Foods is better than an amusement park. Expensive, yes... but wonderful! I could browse those isles all day and never run out of things to want. I make food for my pet rats, dogs, and mice, and a lot of what I put in their food comes from those wonderful bulk bins. I figure it's worth the money if you're getting food you will enjoy and that is good for you. So what if I spend $40 on a bucket full of rat food? So what if organic apples are a little more expensive? It's all worth it in my opinion, and while we should certainly " eat to live " rather than live to eat, why not enjoy what we do eat? Turn off the cable and eat better! We don't even watch TV. We always enjoy our food, though. Whole Foods is fun... and now you've got me craving quinoa, which I think I've bought about three tons of from Whole Foods. Guest guest
That's my hangout. I help customers find things, people think I work there...LOL Donna Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond. Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond. You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze. Guest guest
The best-stocked store near me is Publix (SC) and it's okay, but there don't carry much in the way of grains, and have a very small organic and veg-friendly section. I guess there just isn't much of a market for it here. Isn't it just like me though? I grew up in San Francisco, nearly the most VF area in the country, and didn't go veg untill I moved to SC, which has the most fast food restaurants per capita! So like me!
