Guest guest
I've searched and searched, but I can't find an alternative. I've heard of online virtual dissections, and I really like that idea. I live in CA, which is one of the states that you have the option to not dissect. I prefer not having to buy anything, I'd rather do it online. If anyone can send me links of an alternative to dissection, that would be great. Guest guest
Some ideas: College/University level-substitute anatomy/phisiology, chemistry, physical science (sort of pre physics) or physics. I took physical science, one son took anatomy and physiology to sub. High school: See if they will accept doing one of those 3D men/women, or dog models. It is how I got out of dissections in HS. http://www.froguts.com/flash_content/index.html but it is $75. http://www.whitman.edu/biology/vpd/main.html is virtual dissection of a fetal pig and highly graphic. I'm not certain of the cost. http://biology.about.com/od/onlinedissections/ About.com, lots of info here. Hope this helps, Jeanne in GA caring_vegetarian <izzy wrote: I've searched and searched, but I can't find an alternative. I've heard of online virtual dissections, and I really like that idea. Guest guest
Would they actually make you purchase something personally if the project goes against your beliefs? In high school I didn't even know about any alternatives, I just left the room without a word and failed the project. Your school needs to buy whatever you need. It's their job to educate you! Guest guest
When I was in college, I told my instructor I wouldn't/couldn't disect an animal. He gave me other options, or I missed the class. I still got an A - I was a willing student in all other ways.
Guest guest
I grew up in California and the frog dissection lesson was in high school biology - 10th grade, I think. (Maybe 9th.) At the time I was allowed to take biology at a nearby junior college (an evening course) in lieu of the class in high school. And the evening course was " clean " - no dissection whatsoever. There's absolutely no way I could have participated in the frog dissection. Sharon Donna wrote: > I don't know of any info.
