I have never seen one with a wooden handle.

Are those new??? I'm sure that would create a bonfire

in the oven (:-O

They make a cast iron set of pots with wooden handles. They cannot go into

the oven!!! They have been around for quite a while. Maybe 20 years or

so??

I believe it but I've never seen then in the cooking

store, garage sales or thrify shops. I wonder if they

didn't catch on out this way.

A lot of people bought them because they were cheap, but they sure didn't

catch on as they turned on the handle because the handles came loose and

they were dangerous!!

The set that I found in a thrift store, had wooden handles that screwed into

the pan.

Make sure that the handles are tight. When they come loose, the pots are

dangerous. They turn when you pick them up.

While looking for pans with wooden handles, I came across this website.

What a wealth of information:

Many pots and pans, of all types (not just cast iron) have handles that are

put on by a single screw....which can come loose, and be dangerous. I know

this first hand. :(

Always tighten any handles that get loose, on your pots and pans!!

As for the wooden handles on cast iron. I have not had those, but did know

someone who did, and she *did* bake with hers, the handle was rather brown

on one side, and so I asked her about it. Apparently she never had problems

with it catching fire (just getting toasty. lol). But I would be *very*

careful, and watch it cautiously, if ever trying to bake with one of

those--- she thought it was no big deal.

Hmmm, maybe one could remove the handle and just use a pot holder on the

rim, when baking with those?

The wood is burning out when in the oven. It would be dangerous, in my

opinion. I just wouldn't buy any of them.
