Guest guest Posted November 28, 2006 Report Share Posted November 28, 2006 I've recently taken delivery of an organic veg box from a local farm scheme in my area - and its fab! Remember muddy veg - well, surprise surprise, it still is in the real, non prepackaged world. Knobbly carrots, bendy leeks - REAL food - and above all, they SMELL like real vegetables! When's the last time you went to the veg section of a supermarket, took a deep breath and smelled anything other than cleaning fluids! I can't believe what I've been eating for the last frumblty years (whoops, slip of the keyboard there!) Can't wait for the next one. The skin didn't have that poisony taste like store-bought carrots. And that smell.... the car used to smell like vegetables when we drove home from the farmer's market, it's a pity they can't bottle that smell. Wonderful. I work for a company that delivers boxes like that and some mornings our little warehouse smells SO GOOD - basil & oranges hit you as soon as you open the door and the packing table is 10 feet from the door. Things taste so much better too! We have fun with the odd shaped potatoes, dress them up in little paper hats lol. [] Actually, that gives me an idea for keeping the kids busy as I cook lunch - and to think my mum always taught me not to play with my food!
