Guest guest
The new studies indicate they are not a bad culprit anymore. I'm a heart patient and at first I couldn't have eggs of any kind....now the new studies indicate I can have up to 5 eggs per week, and my cardioligist gave me this information. Guest guest
What is everyone's opinion on how healthy eggs are these days? I know they were given a bad rap for a while about being high in cholesterol, and then some of that was repealed...I think I heard something about only eating a certain number per week. Anyone know what the current thought is? -sue
Guest guest
I don't know what the current thoughts are concerning eggs from the AMA, but from what I have read in recent months in Mother Earth News magazine, the nutritional content of eggs varies greatly depending on how the chickens are treated. Hens that are allowed to live a true free-range lifestyle produce eggs that have little or no cholesterol and even have folic acid and other healthful nutrients. Hens that are treated poorly in the stressful factory farming industry produce eggs that are devoid of healthful nutrients and full of bad cholesterol. I guess that is why my grandparents were able to eat all the eggs they wanted when they raised their own chickens. ~ PT ~ Nothing truly stops you. Nothing truly holds you back. Guest guest
Yep - I've read the same. I think if you are selective about the eggs you purchase (guilt free), they are a good source of nutrients. ??? We eat eggs, and truthfully, I'd give up dairy before eggs. I try not to be too fanatic about the whole thing, just doing the best I can. Another use for eggs, if you are into them: FANTASTIC hair conditioner, especialy for those who are on low/no fat diets.....?? ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: I don't know what the current thoughts are concerning eggs from the AMA, but from what I have read in recent months in Mother Earth News magazine, the nutritional content of eggs varies greatly depending on how the chickens are treated. Guest guest
Thanks Joanie -- it doesn't get any more authentic than hearing it from a cardiologist! -sue grow514 wrote: The new studies indicate they are not a bad culprit anymore.
