Guest guest
Hello my family has two care homes which take care of mentally ill people. I was planning on opening a home myself but it is a state rule to serve them meat. I could however cut down on a large amount of meat intake with buying morning stars products for example but I would still be spending allot of money on meat products. How should I look at this? Isn't it better for them to be under my care where they have a choice of eating vegetarian or meat, or should I see it as only adding to the worldwide problem? Either way, they are going to eat meat, so I would think this would help instead of hurt. What do you think? -Kenneth
Guest guest
i think that it is better to introduce non-meat items slowly, rather than cut back drastically. also, try to integrate why vegetarianism is better for one's health, and people will slowly begin to take notice. i think you are doing a great service, and the world needs more people like you! good luck. , " Kurth " <soul_cade wrote: > > Hello my family has two care homes which take care of mentally ill > people. Guest guest
Educate and stand your ground. I am sure that by education that you can show them that it is cheaper and more healthful . It has probably been the " rule " for years. Shake it up and take it on as a challenge!Basically, " meat " does not have to be 'meat " as long as it meets their standards. Maybe you could find out if is protein or iron. I agree that Morningstar brands has fabulous foods. Please keep us posted. Guest guest
good idea, choice is best as you are dealing with people who will find it hard to change, but education will go a long way to help that. I hated it when my son was in HeadStart and they insisted he had to eat meat and I said no, but they made him feel 'different' in a bad way. Given what is going on currently, you can point to good reason: >http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/224990/livestock_test_positive_for_mel\ amine.html< - Kurth Thursday, April 26, 2007 5:42 PM Family Care Home Hello my family has two care homes which take care of mentally ill people. Guest guest
Yes, I think you should open the home and give the residents a choice. Perhaps there are people in care (or their families) who would actually prefer your home because of the choice. You might be a God-send for a vegetarian family that needs to place a loved one in care or for a sensitive but unstable soul who does not want to kill to eat. Consider it a unique opportunity not only to educate but save your community. Shoshana , " Kurth " <soul_cade wrote: > > How should I look at this?
