Guest guest
Speaking of sandwiches... how about a group question. Guess since I am busy getting my lunchbox packed and thinking of summer vacations, picnics and times when fun sandwich ideas will come in handy. Do you make any unusual or " weird " sandwich combinations? I just mentioned using leftover tater salad as a pita pocket filler. Another one my mom got me hooked on was cold baked bean sandwiches. You smear baked beans on bread and add a bit of mayo and that's it! You can add other veggies like shredded carrots or sprouts. [2 more: dill pickles and peanut butter & kimchee and peanut butter or tahini!!! ] How about you? What sandwich creations do you find interesting? ~ PT ~ Everything in time becomes... a sort of weather-guage. Guest guest
My mom got me started on WW bread, spread with mayo. Then you sprinkle Baco Bits and put on some thin sliced sweet onions on your sandwich and enjoy......... Yummmmmm. Another we enjoy is bread spread with Cream cheese and cucumber slices on top. I sprinkle with some paprika. Garbanzo Bean/Chick Pea Spread 1 Can of Garbanzo Beans, drained Put the drained beans into a food processor and process until fairly smooth, but still little bits of beans. Put the beans into a bowl and mix with some Mayo or Veganaise, finely diced onions and celery. Season with a little cumin and seaons salt or Ms. Dash, as your taste buds prefer. Put into Pita Pockets. I'll think of some others I'm sure. LOL Yours sound good too. Judy - ~ PT ~ Wednesday, June 13, 2007 10:56 AM " Weird " Sandwiches? Guest guest
Oh I forgot to add that I also add some chopped fresh parsley and cilantro to that Chick Pea/ Garbanzo Bean spread, if I have some. It adds a great flavor to it. Judy - wwjd Wednesday, June 13, 2007 11:20 AM Re: " Weird " Sandwiches? My mom got me started on WW bread, spread with mayo. I don't know that I would say odd but while herbs are growing in the yard, most of my soy lunch meat or veg burger sandwiches will include freshly picked basils, mints, sage, thyme and whatever else may cross my mind/path. I think my wife thinks combining basils and mints is a bit odd but I think it tastes great, add some slices of hot peppers and, well, at the moment and in the place, I'm moderately fulfilled and happy. I don't think it's weird, but cream cheese & pumpkin butter is one of my absolute favorite combinations. I got hooked on pumpkin butter after buying a jar, but I prefer to make my own since it comes out thicker and less sweet. It's great on dark bread. Someone mentioned cream cheese + cucumber, and that's another combination I like. -- Liz ______________________________\ ____ Don't pick lemons. Guest guest
These are personal faves... The first one is odd, but not rare - common in NC, but everywhere else, people look at you crazy. I think I invented the other two, but who knows? Anyway, they taste so good! Bananas and peanut butter with mayonnaise. Bananas and Nacho cheese Doritos with mayonnaise. Cottage cheese, black pepper, a tiny bit of something sweet (sugar, syrup, honey, jam) & Cheerios. deena ~ PT ~ wrote: Speaking of sandwiches... how about a > group question. Peanutbutter and tomato sandwiches are yummy. I also like shredded cabbage, tomato, and grated cheese in a pita. I love the combination of tastes and textures in sandwiches. Guest guest
I love Radish sandwiches. You just put a little margarine (or mayo) on a slice of soft bread and slice up the radishes. Add a little salt, if desired. Yum! Radishes are growing well in my garden right now so I am feasting... Hi everyone! I have been away from here from a long time(like a couple of years), been busy getting a master's degree...I am finally done. Now job hunting... I hope to become an active contributor again!
