Guys, if I sent this before, bear with me; ain't as young as I used

to be!! I found a good recipe, I believe at cooks. com, but I have

slept since then. It makes great shells for a cream pie, but I have

never tried a double crust; don't see why it wouldn't work, though. I

try, not just to be veg, but I want low fat and low cholerterol, due

to 61 being right on my heels. I had much rather be able to eat more

and weigh less:

Ingredients:

1 apple, peeled and cored

1-1/4 cups all purpose flour

1 Tbs. vodka

1 tsp. baking powder

Instructions:

Boil apple until soft. Place all ingredients in a food processor and

process until it forms a ball. (Or, use the traditional method of

pushing apple through a sieve and then mix together with other

ingredients.) The dough will be sticky. Refrigerate 2-3 hours.

Preheat oven to 425°F. Remove dough from refrigerator, roll out and

place in a pie pan. Bake 15 minutes. Put pie filling in shell and

bake according to instructions for pie.

Yield: 8 servings

1 POINT per serving

Hey you can sip on a nice cool vodka drink, while making this, but

not too much.

Blessings to all, Jack (Pampa, Texas)

Like you Jack, I ain't as young as I used to be and need to watch my

cholesterol, so I was boggle-eyed reading your low fat pie crust

recipe, which is something I've wanted for a while. I miss my pastry so

much. So, what function does the vodka have? Could it be substituted

with wine or whiskey perhaps? Or just plain old cider vinegar?

Thanks Jack and boomerang blessings

Very interesting recipe, Jack. I never thought

of putting an apple in the pie crust recipe,

or vodka for that matter! *lol* I bet it does

give a nice texture and flavor. Thanks. :)
