Guest guest
Hello all! Does anyone know of a source to order quick/easy to prepare boxed type foods that can be delivered?I'm specifically looking for organic/chemical free foods like macaroni and cheese, pasta salad mix, skillet dinners and that sort of thing. I live in a very small town. there is no organic market here. I'm thinking that this will have to be a internet type of business that will ship things anywhere. any help or ideas are appreciated. thanks much! Annie's Homegrown has natural + oragnaic mac & cheese, canned pasta meals and other boxed pasta dishes. Plus the best little bunny crackers! http://www.annies.com/ Tasty Bite has packaged Indian & Thai foods. Every Tasty Bite item I've tried has been delicious! The best part about them is they don't require refrigeration (until you open a package). http://www.tastybite.com/ Everything in the Food Fight store is vegan. http://store.foodfightgrocery.com/ Amazon's grocery department has a whole organic & natural section. The only downside is you have to buy in bulk, so it's not always good for trying out new things. http://tinyurl.com/3bxwhn -- Liz ______________________________\ ____ Luggage? GPS? Comic books? Guest guest
If you like Indian food, go to the Tasty Bite website. www.tastybite.com I love their Indian food, and the price is right if you order six-packs. --- wwjd <jtwigg wrote: > look on amazon. Guest guest
Believe it or not, Amazon carries a ton of vegetarian non perishables. I don't know if they hae exactly what you have list but it would be a good start. I keep meaning to order some things from them but I never remember. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Guest guest
thanks to everyone for the excellent suggestions! I'm trying to cook for a family that all have very different dietary needs. I also work from home and sometimes just don't have time to start cooking from scratch. I'm hoping that some of these packaged food suggestions will be able to work for all members of the family and save my sanity! Thanks much! Guest guest
Julie, I also have found organic tomato sauce in my local grocery store. I believe it was prego. That and some whole wheat pasta and a salad, dinner is done! Also most stores carry vegetarian refried beans. Heat em up and get out some taco/burrito fixings and there is a quick yummy dinner. Or mix some beans (I ude black or pinto) with cumin, garlic and onion podwer, a dab of tomato paste. simmer untul thickened and heated through. Add it to burritos, tacos or serve it over rice. Those are just a few simple ideas that are avaiable in most local grocery stores. ~Liudwih On 8/21/07, Julie J. <jlcrane wrote: > > thanks to everyone for the excellent suggestions! Guest guest
~Liudwih My family's dietary needs are a bit complicated. My DH has some crazy thing with his intestines. He cannot eat eggs at all, has to be careful with insoluble fiber and must eat a soluble fiber at the beginning of each meal. My DS has a lot of food intolerances. I'm trying to narrow it down, but it's very difficult, especially factoring in school lunches. I'm thinking it might be MSG, but... who knows? Then there are my stepDD's who are the most extreme picky eaters on the planet. The older is stuck on cheeseburgers and fries and the younger on chicken strips and fries. Then there is me who is struggling to cook for all these other people, eat vegetarian myself and somehow remain sane. I wish I could afford to consult with a dietician who could help me come up with meal ideas that everyone could eat. I feel like a short order cook and I'm afraid that no one is eating what they really should be. If anyone has any ideas, resources or help of any sort I'd be forever grateful. Thanks for listening to my complaining. *smile* Thanks! Julie
Guest guest
Have you tried the Fry-Chik veggie chicken chunks that you get from the health food store? I cooked some rice with peppers and put a can of those in it and seasoned it up a bit with soy sauce and it turned out EXCELLENT!! They also have vegetarian chili mac and meatless taco mix. Also the Redi-Burgers and Smart Dogs are very good. " Julie J. " <jlcrane wrote: ~Liudwih My family's dietary needs are a bit complicated. My DH has some crazy thing with his intestines.
