Guest guest
ROB ZOMBIE Says BUTTERBALL 'Tortures Turkeys' - Nov. 16, 2007 World Entertainment News Network reports that Rob Zombie quit eating turkey at Thanksgiving when he learned all about the torture methods farms use to fatten up fowl. The animal lover insists he can't even look at a frozen Butterball turkey (a brand of turkey and other poultry products produced by Butterball LLC, a joint venture of Smithfield Foods and Maxwell Farms) anymore, and this Thanksgiving he's hoping to encourage others to give up meat as part of a new People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals campaign. Zombie is narrating the message on PETA's new holiday hotline, 1-888-VEG-FOOD, where callers can hear the " Halloween " and " House Of 1000 Corpses " director warn that eating turkeys supports misery that even the horror king can't stomach. He says, " Every year, Butterball's Turkey Talk Line answers questions about how to boil, broil, roast, and toast the bodies of these gentle, smart, and social birds. " What Butterball doesn't tell you is that it, like other meat companies, tortures turkeys before they end up in grocery stores. " Zombie became a vegetarian in high school after seeing a documentary about slaughterhouses. " It freaked me out, and I found it so disgusting that I stopped eating meat, " he says. source: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article & newsite\ mID=84987 ______________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
I say KUDOS TO ROB ZOMBIE FOR STANDING UP FOR ANIMALS! Although I have to admit I'm a bit suprised that he is a vegetarian--I would have thought he was one of the biggest meat-eaters, considering his work. I clicked on the link and read all the commets. I can't BELIEVE what some of the morons on there said about eating meat--if THEY would only watch just 2 minutes of footage of what goes on in slaughthouses and and FILTY conditions of them--the treatment of the animals is just the tip of the iceberg--I mean seriously THIS IS WHAT YOU EAT WHEN YOU EAT MEAT--it us UNREAL what we put in out bodies that we don't even know about! Guest guest
Paul McCartney has been quoted as saying that if slaughterhouses had glass walls everyone would be a vegetarian. I stopped eating meat a couple of months ago when I heard a particularly detailed description of how chickens are kept and slaughtered. I knew some of it before but there were things I had somehow missed. I followed up, and sure enough, they're true in many slaughterhouses. I am a behavior analyst specializing in companion animal behavior, and while I do think PETA goes a bit far sometimes, I believe that if an animal is going to die so humans can eat him/her, his or her life should be one of honor and dignity and death should be undertaken with care and respect. This simply isn't how it's done, and I decided I couldn't eat meat any more as a result. On the one hand, I don't blame my cats for eating meat-they are genetically carnivores, but on the other, I have a choice both physically and intellectually for my own food consumption. Guest guest
Hi Lisamarie, You have to keep in mind that I found that article on Blabbermouth.net (a metal news site)and the responses are probably from 14 year old metalheads with nothing else to do than to be lame and disagreeable.
