Guest guest
Well to be honest I like any kind of cookies! But of Christmas-shaped cookies with sprinkles are good for the holidays. I have 2 favorite movies I watch around this time of year. They are " It's a Wonderful Life " and " The Family Man " . As for albums being the rocker at heart that I am, I like Twisted Sister's " A Twisted Christmas " . LOL! ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: Time for some new questions of the week. Share a recipe or memory if you can. My best friend's mom made these every year at Christmas and finally shared the recipe with me after I grew up. Guest guest
1. What are your favorite holiday cookies? Share a recipe or memory if you can. My favorite holiday cookies are Chocolate Chip Orange Pecan Cookies. I shared this recipe here a few weeks ago when someone requested vegan cookie recipes, but I am including it again. Chocolate Chip Orange Pecan Cookies 1 1/4 cups whole wheat pastry flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 teaspoons orange extract 1/3 cup olive oil 1/2 cup brown rice syrup 2/3 cup soy milk 1 cup non-dairy chocolate chips 1 1/2 cup chopped pecans Preheat oven to 350 and spray cookie sheets with cooking spray. Mix flour, baking power and salt. Stir in oil, vanilla, and orange extract. Slowly stir in the soy milk. Fold in the chocolate chips and pecans. Drop dough onto cookie sheets. Bake for 13-15 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack. Cookies will be slightly sticky and need to be stored with wax paper between layers to keep from sticking. 2. What are your favorite holiday movies? It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and The Night They Saved Christmas. 3. What is currently your favorite holiday music CD/record album? An old album from 1964 that I inherited from my parents called a Firestone Christmas, with a mixture of Christmas carols and secular Christmas songs by a bunch of different singers, including Julie Andrews. I remember this album from my childhood and it's still my favorite.

My mother played Christmas music constantly on the stereo and this was always a favorite. But she always had the Firestone albums and all the classics- Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, John Denver, Elvis, Ray Conniff, etc. It went non-stop from the day after Thanksgiving, through Christmas while she decorated and wrapped. I miss having music in the house all the time. Jo-Ann >
