Macaroni and cheese with a can of Vegal When did you first have it? 1969 while in the Navy Was it a recipe you created, or a family recipe? Some shipmates. Enlisted people back then had very little money for food if they were single and lived off-base. After paying the rent and buying beer there wasn't much money left over...lol...so meals off the ship (which were free)consisted of cheap things like Tomato soup or macaroni & cheese. Guest guest
> What is your favorite type of vegetarian casserole? ~ It is so hard for me to choose just one; I love casseroles! I guess my favorite type would be anything creamy, cheesy, gooey with a crispy-crunchy topping! > When did you first have it? ~ My mom was a good casserole maker. She was the one that got me to try them and inspired me to invent vegetarian versions of the ones she made while I was growing up. Nothing says comfort-food like a good homemade casserole, so when I moved away from home and started flexing my veggie muscles, I had to come up with my own ideas for how to make those comforts of home in a new way. > Was it a recipe you created, or a family recipe? ~ My first recipe was adapting my mom's tuna noodle casserole into a veggie-only version. I will post that one next ana few others I like to make now. ~ PT ~ " If you listen close at night, you will hear the creatures of the dark, all of them sacred -- the owls, the crickets, the frogs, the night birds -- and you will hear beautiful songs, songs you have never heard before. Listen with your heart. Never stop listening. " ~ Henery Quick Bear, LAKOTA
