Guest guest
Time for a new batch of question of the week. Each week we post a few questions to the group. Please share your answers when you have time. QOTW for June 1st - 7th: 1. What is your favorite thing about being a vegetarian? & nbsp; This sounds counter-intuitive to so many omnivores, but the wide variety of food I have discovered. & nbsp; I have sampled from many different cuisines. & nbsp; I am familiar with a lot of spices, vegetables, fruits, and cheeses that my meat-eating relatives never even heard of. & nbsp; I think vegetarian food tastes " brighter, " too, for lack of a better word. 2. What is the oddest comment you have gotten from a person when they discover you are a vegetarian? " What do you *eat*? " & nbsp; See above! & nbsp; Lots of yummy veggies, beans, fruits, breads, etc.! & nbsp; Plus I wear a size 16! & nbsp; I so clearly am *not* starving! 3. What is the nicest comment you have heard about vegetarianism? & nbsp; I seem to be continuing on a theme here, but my omnivore brother said, admiringly, that it has made me a much more creative cook than our mother. Blessed be, Jayelle " We loved each other and got married. We are not marrying the state. The law should allow a person to marry anyone he wants. Guest guest
Well let's see...I can't think of a single thing I DON'T like about being veg. Some things I like are that I feel better physically and mentally, getting opportunities to spread the word about the benfits of vegetarianism and veganism, extending my life span, helping to put a small dent in global warming and world hunger(although it may not seem like a lot, every little bit counts and each vegetarian DOES make a difference whether they may realize it or not), making a difference in lives of the animals I save by not eating them, and the whole, new, awesome world of VEG FOOD that I'm always discovering! As far as odd comments, I haven't really gotten any yet, but I won't be suprised if one day I do. Generally though my peers have been fairly good and supportive of my decision though, fortunately. I've heard a couple of nice things about my being veg. I once walked into a convenience store to look for something to snack on, as I was on the road and happened to mention out loud that I was looking to see if they had anything healthy, as I had recently gone veg and the people running the store said I was smart for doing it. Another one I got was from one of the people I work with. She commented one day that she was proud of me for sticking with my vegetarianism. Guest guest
Hi All, My favorite thing about being a vegetarian is that there's so many new, interesting vegetarian foods out there for me to try--much more, I think, than when I first started out over a decade ago. The strangest thing reaction I've had to my being a vegetarian was that I was starving myself and just needed a little meat to keep me strong and healthy! The nicest thing that someone said about me being a vegetarian? I never really thought about it. I just decided that being a veggie was what I wanted to do and didn't much worry about what anyone else thought or didn't think about my choice. Smiles, April P. Guest guest
1. & nbsp; The thing I love about being vegetarian is the large assortment of fruits and vegetables that are available and all of the different ways to cook them. & nbsp; 2. & nbsp; The oddest comment I have gotten is didn't you used to eat meat, how can you just give it up. & nbsp; & nbsp; 3. & nbsp; The nicest comment is: & nbsp; That is why you are so much healthier lately. & nbsp; The comment that I hear the most is where am I getting my protein from if I don't eat meat or dairy. & nbsp;Barb & nbsp; --- On Sun, 6/1/08, feralvegetarian_moderators & lt;feralvegetarian_moderators & gt; wrote: feralvegetarian_moderators & lt;feralvegetarian_moderators & gt; QOTW: What is your favorite thing about being veg? Guest guest
Awe that old SO outdated protein myth that everyone has been buying into since they were very small children--gotta love it! When I first answered this poll, I couldn't think of an odd comment right off, but since I've heard one--try this one: " If I ate health food it would kill me. Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm new here---and enjoying y'all! & nbsp; I had to comment about the oddest comment I got about being a vegetarian. & nbsp; I live in Atlanta, which is still the Bible Belt South and worked with someone who was very religious. & nbsp; She commented that animals were put on the Earth by God for people to eat! & nbsp; The implication was that I was going against God's will! & nbsp;

Guest guest
Hi Ellen, I'm further down south in Albany. & nbsp; I'm jealous, you've got vegetarian restaurants up there! The only thing we have down here that is remotely vegetarian is a take out salad. I can't remember the name of one I used to go to with friends, or even what part of Hotlanta but they had the best veggie lasagna and the serving was enough to feed both my husband and me. & nbsp; & nbsp; If I remember the name, I'll zip it to you and do nanny nanny boo boo in the direction of Atlanta. & nbsp; Boooo hoooooo, I love Hotlanta. & nbsp; Jeanne & nbsp;
Guest guest
LOL! That is a funny comment. I have to say I have heard that one before, too. Oh well, what can we say to that sort of crazy ignorant comment? Not much, I guess. Better to just walk away shaking your head and laughing. *lol* Welcome to the group, Ellen. I look forward to reading your posts. ~ PT ~ I'm going your way, so let us go hand in hand. You help me and I'll help you. We shall not be here very long, for soon death, the kind old nurse, will come back and rock us all to sleep.
