First of all welcome to everyone new :)

I am just sooo disgusted with myself.

I don't seem to have the will power to resist the impulse DrPepper's

and snacks when I stop to pay gas. I use cash only so I can't just

use the pay at the pump.

People have posted recipe suggestions before..

Well basicly my only grocery store is WalMart Supercenter and a small

hometown grocery. I am so disorganized right now I need someone to

send me a meal plan and step by step ingredient list and how to make

it from ingredients I can get at my local stores.

Plus I am on the following medications which the first two really

make you gain major weight. I cannot stop these medications as they

are the only ones that have helped me in 12 years of suffering.

SEROQUEL,LAMICTAL,ZOCOR

How can I trick my body into thinking that it needs to greatly speed

up my metabolism and lose weight when I am on the above medications?

I am 5'7 " tall and weigh 260 pounds. I am almost 32 and have had 4

children.

I am just down in the dumps and depressed about my unsuccess at

losing weight.

I need a sponsor like they have for AA members LOL!

Hi Sam:

Although I generally don't think a Dr Pepper will hurt you once in a while,

you do need cut them down to strict moderation. What kind of snacks are you

buying--if they are candy bars and cheetos, no these will not help you lose

weight. The important thing is to make sure your diet is well-balanced, with

daily servings of fresh, raw fruits, veggies, grains, lentils, and nuts. Also

combining this with excersise should help you shred the extra pounds. Maybe

make your children a part of it; get some bicycles or something and tell them

you want to have some " together " time to go riding 30 minutes or so out of the

day if possible. If that isn't always feasible take some time out for yourself,

like maybe get up a little early in the morning if someone is around to be with

your kids and take a brisk stroll before they get up, and make sure you eat

breakfast--just something light like a piece of fruit and/or a bowl of oatmeal

or vitamin/mineral fortified grain cereal(organic

if possible) is good.

Also it is important to sip on water throughout the day. This is what helps

keep your system functioning and your cells hydrated--about 1.5 liters over the

course of the day is good aim.

For lunch, try a salad and/or rice and beans with a veggie on the side.

For dinner have some veggie burgers, or create something of your own that

isn't overly fattening, and leave out the cheese and milk if a recipe calls for

it; sub soymilk, rice milk, or almond milk and vegan cheese! Dairy products are

fattening and full of cholesterol and NO good for you, no matter what you might

hear differently, so I'd really limit my intake of those as well.

For any cravings for sweet you might have, try a plum or peach. The natural

sugar(fructose) , esp in citrus and nectar fruits should take care of it.

So try these for a while and see how it works out for you, and let me know how

it goes, ok? :)

Hi Samantha,

Hey, I feel much the same way. Yesterday, for instance, I

worked in a small hot dog diner. I had a diet Sprite and a Three

Muskateers...after the candy bar, I thought...my goodness, too much

sugar and why did I do that...because it was handy and something I

had not had for a long time, but the overdose of sugar was not good

for me. I don't eat the hot dogs, so no worry there.

I struggle with the food issue, too. I know many of the proper

things to do, but fail to plan ahead. I think planning is one of

the biggest things. Plus, you have children, so you will gradually

change their eating, or they might rebel. Some people suggest

having a no meat meal as many times a week as you can get by with it

without family complaints. With farmer's markets soon to be

available (hope you have one), summer eating is a bit more simple.

Maybe try some veggies on the grill or potatoes and other veggies

wrapped in foil. Soups are also good. Make some and freeze it for

a hurry up meal.

If you want, you may email me off group and we can share in this

together.

Im not sure what to tell you about the seroquel, and not sure why

your on it with the lamictal...are you getting them from the same

dr?...lamictal is supposed to help with weight loss a small amount,

not to increase weight gain...in general the recomeneded amount of

water intake is 8 glasses per day...this will help with hunger...most

hunger pangs are actually thurst pangs...i know it takes some getting

used to drinking water instead of the flavorful sodas, i used to be a

total soda fiend...good luck...

Now don't you go beating yourself up.

I know the meds you are on and that horrid side

effect of weight gain. My mom is on that seroquel

and suffers as well. She is very short [4'11 " ] and

weighs over 200 lbs. because of that drug; she

has to take it though, and every attempt to find

something else to help her fails. I understand your

pain. Hang in there, hon.

My mom has been increasing her activity by getting

out for daily walks. It is so hard for her. She also

tries to just eat fresh, unprocessed foods and she

keeps a huge garden to help her get all the veggies

she needs.

Avoid those soft drinks and sugars. Try drinking

fruit juices mixed with club soda for some fizz.

Add more whole grains to your diet to help you feel

full longer. Try not to eat when tired or depressed.

It is tough, and you may slip up, but don't be too

hard on yourself if you do.

We have many wonderful recipes in our files.

Do browse through them, then make a grocery

list from the ingredients listed.

I also have a file folder with a good basic pantry list.

It will help you out to have many of the good basics

always onhand, so use that as a begining guide.

We are always here with help and support. :)
