Guest guest
I made the chick pea cutlets from Veganomicon this morning. They are absolutely delicious. I want to eat one NOW. I had the oven on for a casserole so baked them. They are definitely chewy and I love that. I gave DH a little taste and he said he could see eating it if he had cranberry sauce with it. He only eats veggie cutlets/patties/loaves with gravy or cranberry. I don't need anything at all but since I keep cranberry sauce in the freezer, that's what he will get. This is the first recipe I have made from Veganomicon but have little flags all through the book for my cooking adventures when I get home from England. If the book wasn't so darn big, I'd take it with me for my daughter to read. She's not vegetarian but has cut down on her meat consumption in the past few years. I want some recipes to take to SD with me in Sept so I can introduce my friend to vegan cooking. This could be interesting. She's open to trying it even though she lives on a ranch and they raise cattle for beef. I love her like a sister so I'm OK with that. I would never try to convert her but I sure can offer alternatives. I didn't get to a health food store last time I was there but this time, we'll visit one and I'll see what I can buy to tempt her. Guest guest
Audrey, I agree! The recipes in V'con are wonderful. I love the chickpea cutlets. It's our version of a breaded veal patty, just cruelty free. Love the mustard and wine sauces with it. The only reservation I have is that it has some gluten in it, and so many people think gluten is terrible to eat. Sounds like you have your hands full with your husband! And your friend with the cattle ranch, although their is a guy who is a former rancher who has become an outspoken, famous vegan! --- On Wed, 7/23/08, Audrey Z Burrows <quiltbug wrote: Audrey Z Burrows <quiltbug chick pea cutlets Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 9:20 AM I made the chick pea cutlets from Veganomicon this morning.
