Recently we bought a new knife set, a vegetable steamer and cast Iron Panini press 2. Did you buy this tool for yourself? My husband bought them, they were all on sale at Macy's a couple of months ago. 3. Do you find it useful? Share negative and positive qualities you may have discovered using it. Love the knife set, it makes chopping my veggies so much easier. The steamer is great it is a 2 tier steamer, my daughter steams fresh garlic and them mashes it up with fresh hers. The panini press we have only used a couple of times so far it seems good. Gayle **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Guest guest
> 1. What is the most recent cooking gadget/tool > in your kitchen? This big metal wire basket pan for grilling veggies outside. > 2. Did you buy this tool for yourself? No, it was a gift from my mother for my birthday. She was having a hard time thinking of something cool to get me that I would actually use. > 3. Do you find it useful? Share negative and positive > qualities you may have discovered using it. Yes, I find it very useful and appreciated the gift. The positive qualities are that it helps me keep my veg foods separate from the other stuff on the grill that my omnivore husband might be making. Plus I love how many veggies I can fit into the grill basket, so we can all have plenty for dinner, and some leftover grilled vegetables for panini sandwiches or quesadillas for lunch. Another positive feature to this grill basket pan is the open wire lid has clamp shut clips that keep it held secure so you can flip and shake the veggies around for even cooking. The only negative aspect of this cooking tool is it so HUGE! It takes up a lot of storage space in my kitchen cabinets. The size also makes cleaning it a but cumbersome, since it doesn't want to fit easily in the sink. ~ PT ~

Guest guest
I just bought a slow cooker for myself yesterday and I am using it to make a little pot of black eyed pea soup. Just seemed like it might be more efficient at energy use than a pot on a burner. I'll let you know how the soup comes out Bridget " Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing. Guest guest
This question made me realize I haven't bought anything new in quite a while! But most recently, I think, was a waffle iron my parents gave me last Christmas. I love waffles, but I don't make them very often. It's great for treats, however. I made vegan pumpkin waffles, and they were just marvelous! I'm definitely going to make them again for a special breakfast. I also, of course, make waffles for my parents when they come to visit. Gotta honor that gift, don't I? The fact that fresh homemade waffles result from that ritual is just a side benefit. Yeah. right. Waffles rock! Guest guest
I just got a Vita Mix. I've been slow getting started with it as the delicious recipes shown at the demo are not in the accompanying books or on the VitaMix web site. I need to check to see if we have any in The Feral Vegetarian files..... I think I will like it when I get comfortable with it. Guest guest
I have a " Vidalia Onion Chopper " and you can make the best veg hash and salsa and other quick dishes with it. It has 2 sized screens to chop with. I love the little diced potatoes, tomatoes, onions and other veggies it makes. I even toss eggplant on it. I found it at Linen N " Things for $14.99 and used their 20% coupon. I ended up going back for 2 more for Christmas gifts. Donna

Guest guest
1. What is the most recent cooking gadget/tool in your kitchen? Garbage disposal. 2. Did you buy this tool for yourself? Yes. Installed too. 3. Do you find it useful? Share negative and positive qualities you may have discovered using it. Quieter. But that's not the point. MEN had an article years ago about putting one in a 5 gallon bucket. That made it portable. You took it to the yard, or used it on a counter over a sink with a bowl. This way you get your veggie waste ground for rapid addition to the garden or compost. Get a new one, use the old one this way. In tha garden plug an extention cord into a GFI outlet. These are also made, portable. BillSF9c

Guest guest
It's much more than a blender and far more powerful. It makes thing velvety smooth, including carrots and frozen fruit. Has a plunger where you can push things down into the blades. Makes soup, the smoothiest, creamest you've ever put into your mouth. It is what they use at those smoothie bars. They have the best customer service, should you ever have any questions. Judy - echolike Monday, August 11, 2008 5:15 PM Re: Re: QOTW: What is your latest cooking gadget?
