Hello everyone. We are asking that this thread close now.

I think the person meant no wrong implications by starting it,

but due to several off-list complaints and concerns from

members, we have determined it has run on long enough

and at this point it is starting to dissolve into less than

positive feedback.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Hello, gentle moderators,

Hmmm. It didn't seem to me that anything got out of hand, and I enjoyed

thinking about the issues raised. Is it really such a problem to talk

about the ethics of our food choices on a vegetarian list?

I'm not sure what people were concerned about, but from my perspective

it didn't seem that anyone did any dissing or putdowns. Or did I miss

something, maybe?

Is it a problem being " negative? " After all, life isn't all sweetness

and light. If we don't give any thought to the dark parts of life, we

risk living only in the shallows, and we'll never experience the depth

of our existence.

My two quarter's worth :-)

Cheers,

Trish

arent we all here too learn from one another?...how are we supposed

to do that without discussion?...thats not going to happen without a

few overly sensative people getting upset in such a large group...we

are all adults here and should be able to discuss issues " off topic "

of receipes...kinda like the question of the week that usually doesnt

have anything to do with receipes...

I agree! I enjoyed reading the posts...it made me think. I am very

disappointed to hear people were offended. I believed this to be an

open-minded group and definitely a topic suitable for a vegetarian/vegan

message board.

I agree too -- if it offends I guess they can learn to delete. Somehow I

guessed that was an option. I used to eat a lot of meat -- didn't think about

it much. Now I don't eat meat but not because of any 'moral' idea but

because I no longer like the taste of it. I grew up not eating meat but when I

started smoking and drinking I started eating meat too. Quit drinking, then I

quit smoking and then quit eating meat -- none of the three tasted good when I

quit them.

Summer

meat is a poor substitute for real food
