Hot! In the low 100's lately in the day time and it doesn't

cool off in the evening until late. Maybe it will help the

tomatoes.

2. Do you find that the weather conditions affect

what you crave to eat or cook?

Um, not usually. I don't like to bake when it is very hot though.

Nothing out of the ordinary.

When it is hot as it has been here in s.e. MI, I try to prepare lighter

dishes....but due to MS, at times have a difficult time even preparing

anything because of how the heat and humidity affect how I feel.

I'm more comfortable now that the weather is cooling down some. Relieved is

more how I am now though.

Sorry if my post went through funky - cats.

QOTW: September 7th - 14th, 2008:

1. What has the weather been like in your region

Hot, humid, horrible.

2. Do you find that the weather conditions affect

what you crave to eat or cook?

YES

Taco salad with home made corn tortillas

Sandwiches, sandwiches, sandwiches or cold cereal

Tortillas rather than yeast raised breads

Cold cereal rather than oatmeal

As for moods, I can't even think of cooking till the temperatures go down. No

air conditioning in the kitchen and when I made Carl some macaroni salad last

week, just a pot of boiling water made it 114 in there. Any higher and the

thermometer would pop. If he wants hot food, he's either going to take a rain

check or take me out.

Anybody for peanut butter and jelly?

We've had a truly miserable summer up here in Scotland this year.

We've had perhaps just 2 nice sunny weeks and the rest of the summer

has been rainy, overcast and cold with temperatures in the 50s and

lower 60s. I've had to turn my heating on already :-(

Definitely - this year my eating pattern has not changed at all

between winter and summer - I've carried on eating hot soups and

stews and I've craved comfort foods. I've hardly eaten any salad or

ice cream at all this summer.

I've been making good use of my crockpot to cook up those soups and

stews. I cooked for 2 weeks, eating one portion and freezing the rest

and that has kept me going for 3-4 weeks so far. I anticipate it will

be another couple of weeks before I need to start cooking again.

I can sympathize with christie_0131. We also had a miserable summer

here in northern British Columbia (Canada), just to follow a

miserable spring and winter! It has been cold, cloudy and/or wet, and

I can tell you dates we had summer (three days in early July and four

days in mid-August). We had a garden-killing frost in late June and

July, it was so cold. The leaves started turning colour in early

August and we are well into fall now. It is quite possible we'll have

snow before September is finished. Apparently we can blame the

weather on " La Nina " this year.

Yes - I usually eat more salads and stirfries in the summer but this

year, I have been making mostly hot soups, stews and comforting

casseroles. I've been baking more too over the summer, since it keeps

the kitchen warm. ;)

I've been making Moroccan and north African style stews with loads of

root vegetables lately. The cool weather makes me crave root

vegetables, winter squashes and hearty leafy greens. My hubby and I

just moved into the first house we ever bought, and last spring the

former owners kindly planted a big garden for whomever was going to

buy the house. :) I have a heap of turnips, carrots, beets, peas,

beans, and cabbage to use so those are directing my meals right now.
