Guest guest
You can omit the oil and eggs from the cake mix. If you are making a dark cake (like chocoloate) add a can of coke zero or diet coke. If you are making a light cake (yellow or white) use Sprite Zero or Diet 7-up. It's healthy and moist! Enjoy! Guest guest
Actually just a note about it being " healthy " --even " diet cokes " are NO good for you, as for one thing they contain aspartame. Not that I'm discouraging anyone from making /trying it. Just wanted to jump in with that, as the part about it being healthy sort of red-flagged me, and so I wanted to toss that in. --- On Mon, 9/8/08, Deanne Campbell <deanne757 wrote: Deanne Campbell <deanne757 box cake recipe- no oil or eggs! Guest guest
I wouldn't say it was healthy.....It's void of any nutritional value, it's highly processed, high in calories, full of artifical ingredients and preservatives, and the cake mix would have tons of sugar in it (even if you use diet sodas). I wonder what chemical processes happen when you mix artifical sweetners (ex: aspartame) with other artifical ingredients/chemicls and then add high heat..... hmm. susie --- On Mon, 9/8/08, Deanne Campbell <deanne757 wrote: Deanne Campbell <deanne757 box cake recipe- no oil or eggs! Guest guest
I would like to update my original post on thism I chose the wrong descriptive word to use.... by no means is eating boxed cake mix healthy. I will rephrase to say " it may be less un-healthy " to use a diet soda as a replacement for the oil and eggs. You can also use a low-sugar cake mix. I rarely use this, just thought I'd throw it out there in case someone needs to bake a quick using boxed cake mix. --- On Mon, 9/8/08, Lisamarie Dean <antcheek wrote: Lisamarie Dean <antcheek Re: box cake recipe- no oil or eggs! Guest guest
I respectfully disagree. Using a diet soda makes the cake mix even MORE unhealthy. When you heat diet soda (aspartame) it turns into formaldehyde, which is used to embalm bodies after death. It is an extremely dangerous chemical. Aspartame should never be heated! Guest guest
aspertame is horrible. i found out i'm allergic to it, and its a severe migraine trigger for me...i can't chew gun at all anymore...they don't make any with suger. Not only that, but it is a huge cancer causing element, and i belive that there are studies about it literally eating/making holes in the brain over time and a cause to altheimers. of course i can't tell you where i've come across that at. probably the nutramedical report. i try to cut out sugar period, but its so hard to leave it out of my coffee in the morning. My next step is to try stevia...anyone else experimented with it? as in growing, cooking, etc? maggie
Guest guest
This is true, but the majority of diet sodas now use Splenda and no longer contain aspartame. Guest guest
Sounds very logical since both aspartame and MSG come from the sugar beet.
