3. The deciduous trees are turning colors. The native desert trees lose

many of their leaves later but right now the beans are hanging in yellow

clumps on the Mesquite and Palo Verde. The desert grasses are all blooming

and the other desert plants have all set their fruits. All types of

sages are in full yellow bloom. The desert is very green from the summer

rains, but all will very soon turn different shades of brown. The

temperatures are perfect now and the cooler dry air is very invigorating.

October

is my favorite month in the desert.

There will not be a frost until January.

Hm, October or November, I guess. Not such a

radical change of colors here as in say New Hampshire.

Or at least, not that I can immediately recall.

I will have to be more observant I guess.

I would expect them to be changing now but they still look very green.

Perhaps that is because we have had such a cold and wet summer - I

think they change and fall earlier if it has been dry.

They change at different times depending on the tree type,

but most of them are turned and starting to fall in late

October.

apples at my local orchard. It was a good year for apples

I'm April from Michigan and where I live the leaves usually do change

colors--but I haven't noticed many of them around here so far!
