Guest guest
I can't tell you how many times I have seen vegetarians use this product unaware of the ingredients. It does contain lard. Here's their link on ingredients: http://www.jiffymix.com/mixes/m_corn.html Donna I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one. And I believe it could be someday, it's going to come. Guest guest
Hi Audrey, The Martha White paper pouches of Cornbread Mix, is all vegetarian. and you can substitute it in any recipe that calls for Jiffy Mix. It makes up the same amount. Your recipe can be made using this product. It is found near the Muffin Mixes that are in the paper pouches. Here's to lots of fun cooking. I still have the box, will check when I get home. I always check rice and noodle packaged foods, and frozen foods, lots of them have chicken fat. I didn't think a baking mix would, though... Guest guest
Keep a look out on the ingredient lists of those quick bread mixes because there ARE some good brands out there that do not contain animal fats and instead use a vegetable shortening. There is a brand I find at Wal*Mart that is safe to use, and also one I find in Fred Meyer stores called Krusteaz that is vegetarian. ~ PT ~ The groves were God's first temples. ~William Cullen Bryant, " A Forest Hymn " ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , jami dodd <jamijamlyn wrote: > > thank you for that info!!! i never really thought to look at the ingredients on that (although usually i am an ingredient hound). i also looked at the sam's brand cornbread mix and it contains the same animal shortening. > > thanks for the heads up!
