This is one of my favorite versions of veggie meatloaf.

It tastes even better the next day in a sandwich or

just warmed up on a plate.

Serve this with a crusty bread, mashed potatoes, and

some garlic roasted green beans. :)

TVP Loaf

1 cup TVP

2 cups vegetable broth

1 onion, finely minced

2 stalks celery, finely minced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 Tbs. butter

1 egg, beaten

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup oatmeal

3 Tbs. Brags liquid aminos

2 Tbs. BBQ sauce

2 Tbs. tomato paste

1 tsp. gravy master [or Kitchen Bouquet]

Celtic sea salt to taste

Garlic oil, to grease loaf pans

Heat vegetable broth to boiling, add TVP and remove

from heat. Let sit until all moisture is absorbed.

Saute the onion, celery and garlic in the butter until soft.

Add this to the reconstituted TVP. Stir in beaten egg,

bread crumbs, oatmeal, brags, BBQ sauce, tomato paste,

gravy master and salt. Mix completely. Divide mixture

evenly between two min-loaf pans that you have coated

the insides with garlic oil [or olive oil].

Bake at 350? for about 30 minutes.

Yield: 2 mini-loaf pans or 1 regular loaf

Hello Valerie. TVP stands for textured vegetable protein.

They come in dry granules or other sizes and need to be

reconstituted with broths. They take on the flavor of

whatever you cook them in, much like tofu.

The brand I have in my pantry right now is Bob's Red Mill,

but there are others on the market.

Here is a link to Bob's Red Mill TVP:

No, Gravy Master is not a thickening agent.

It is a favor and color enhancer.

Here is a link to what it looks like and the

nutritional info:

http://www.gravy.com/about/nutritional.html

It is vegetarian, though many people use it in meat

dishes; my omnivore Grams used it all the time to

add richness and darker color to her gravy.

I like to use it in my vegetarian gravies and sauces.

I also like to ad a touch to my veggie burger recipes

and loaves. It is very versatile and a little drop goes

a long way. :)
