Guest guest
Hi Donna Thanks for the webcam site. It's cold and rainy here today but we had more snow yesterday and overnight. DH spent the morning clearing the driveways. He also had to shovel a patch through over a foot of snow on the side deck to open up an emergency exit from the kitchen. I made broccoli soup and did laundry. I'm not into shoveling snow but I do love to walk in it. Guest guest
I would rather wrestle a rattlesnake. I wouldn't survive back there. That was our high today, but our high yesterday was in the 20s and we had an ice storm. We have been down to the single digits with wind chills in the negative numbers so far. You would freeze here!! Guest guest
OMG, I grew up in Manhattan Beach and, as an adult, I lived in Hermosa, as well as other areas in the south bay until about 1981. I am now retired and living in the Portland, OR area. My brother use to play beach volleyball regularly (many years ago) and may have played in that same location.--I'll have to ask him. Thank you for this link! Tia-Lisa -------------- Original message -------------- Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower Merry Christmas from the home of beach volleyball. Guest guest
Hi I'm from SC and a few years back, we had an ice storm that left people without power for a week. Then, I lived out a long driver and could hear the pine trees as they snapped off. Carol --- On Fri, 12/26/08, Audrey Snyder <AudeeBird wrote: Audrey Snyder <AudeeBird Re: California webcam on the beach OT Friday, December 26, 2008, 5:45 PM We know all about ice storms here in northeast Kansas / northwest Missouri (I'm in Kansas City Kansas)! I did not know that Kentucky had ice storms! We usually get a little snow, maybe 1-2 " , and then another 1 " - 1 1/2 " of ice on top within hours, that's the worst part. My sister worked for the power company here, and the company was being purchased by a power company in South Dakota. The representatives happened to come up to visit regarding the sale right before a big ice storm last winter, and my sister had to apologize for leaving them by themselves so much, she was dealing with getting out press releases about the storm and recovery, updates on power crews, etc. She said the people from South Dakota were horrified... she said what's the matter with you, you've got terrible winter weather in South Dakota! Yes, but they'd never seen ice storms like here... We're rather proud of our schitzophrenic weather here -- it was in the 20's yesterday, 40's today -- 3 degrees F one day last week. It could be in the 50's tomorrow. I've seen it drop over 20 degrees in the span of a few hours. Audrey S. Guest guest
Tia Lisa and Audrey, you're both welcome. I just came from there, birds in the sky and the sun it up but it's cold. I doubt you will see any bikini's on the beach today. Donna
Guest guest
On Monday it was zero and all my pipes froze, Tuesday it warmed up a little bit and one of them burst (of course!) Now its Friday and it was 65 today..........who knows, perhaps it will be 30 below tomorrow. ________________________________ Marilyn Daub <mcdaub Friday, December 26, 2008 4:30:51 PM Re: California webcam on the beach OT Tomorrow it is supposed to be 70!!! We get ice storms and snow storms and snow thunder storms. I would rather the ice be on top of the snow than below it. That is when it is really slick!! A few years back, we had an ice storm that left the entire area, 4 power companies, without electric for over 6 days. We have to be prepared to stay in our houses for a month in supplies. We go as low as 25 below and any temperature as the high. M
