Guest guest
I drink my kale when I feel like I need a hit of green. I place it in the blender with some water. That is it. Maybe I have a few walnuts, almonds or ground flax seeds on the side. When I need the green it is great. But I was just curious if anyone had any other ideas on how to consume this nutrient fill substance Thank you.

Tastes great and holds me all morning. I just recently started juicing. Did a lot of research but can't currently afford to spend $400+ on a juicer so I got a Breville Juice Fountain, it's easy to clean, works wonderfully and is only $150...probably the best investment I've ever made! They have a compact version to that's only $99, a friend of mine started using it last week and says it's great as well. Hope that helps... I'm just a baby when it comes to raw food so I don't think I'm ready for straight raw kale yet! lol
Guest guest
O.k., I'm behind on reading posts, I know... I wanted to address the kale question. I have a personal belief that too much blending (or other " breaking down " ) is not good. My thought process is this... if I were a person totally in tune with nature wandering around foraging, and I came upon said item, would I eat it? If so, how much? (Don't get me wrong, I have a Vitamix and enjoy a smoothie or a homemade fruit salad dressing the same as the next person... but I don't rely on blended foods for the bulk of my nutrition. I tend to think of the blending as an adaptation, much like steaming a vegetable lightly. Although healthy and nutritious and helping me to consume something that I might not normally be able to, still, not ideal.) Kale, as it is found in the grocery store, is usually just plain overgrown. It is fibrous and tough and often a little bitter. It is not something you'd actually want to chew and eat. Maybe that says something about how your body would digest it. It is much more edible as a young leaf. For that, you have to grow your own, not always easy for people. I enjoy young raw kale in salads. When not available, I blend older kale leaves into fruit smoothies, or steam it lightly. Occasionally I shred it very finely and mix small amounts into my other lettuces in my salad. , marjorie rawfood , " Jennifer " <jenn_sk wrote: > > I drink my kale when I feel like I need a hit of green.
