Guest guest
Does anyone have any good recipes for green smoothies? I need some more green in mine and my children's diet. Thanks alot!! Jessica
Guest guest
Hi Jessica, My base is 4-5 bananas and a few lettuce leaves (green/red leaf or romaine), then I sometimes add a cup of frozen mangoes or blueberries or strawberries. You can add a few fresh dates if you want it sweeter. Have fun, Laurie
Guest guest
here is a favorite of mine and my family's: 2 cups frozen organic blueberries (or fresh) 1 banana 5 oz. baby spinich or kale or even raw broccoli 1 cup of water (or more) Very tasty and nutrient dense! We reuire lots of greens in our diet so I make sure to have lots of organic baby spinach or kale on hand. My kids have been eating versions of this for about a year now and only resist it when they feel cold and not in the mood for cold food. Then I use fresh fruit and that helps. Guest guest
Hi Jessica, My favorite is: some fresh squeezed orange juice as a base (purified water works fine as well), 4 or 5 ripe bananas, some frozen cherries and frozen blueberries, and a handful or two of tender mild greens (romaine lettuce, red leaf or green leaf lettuce). Delicious and easy! Enjoy! Guest guest
I thought Green Smoothies had very little or no fruit. I am trying to do low-glycemic raw food diet for a bit and have been using this first recipe a lot: 1 tomato 1/2 cucumber handful sunflower sprouts 3 kale leaves 2-3 ribs of celery (adding fresh herbs to this is yummy) or these recipes are not low-glycemic but not very sugary: (i would multiply this by 4 to make a very large smoothie) 5 spinach leaves 4 sprigs parsley 1/2 celery rib 1/4 apple 2 sm. carrots (may not want to multiply this by 4-too sweet) 1/4 c cold water 1/2 c. ice cubes (I love this because my vita-mix makes things hot sometimes) OR this (again I would multiply by 4) 2 broccoli florettes 1/2 kale leaf 2 small carrots (may not want to multiply this by 4-too sweet) 1/4 apple 1/4 c. cold water 1/2 c. ice cubes I got these last 2 from the vita-mix cookbook. It took me a while to adjust to the tastes, because the sugar is so low. Now I find them so delicious! Laura
Guest guest
> Does anyone have any good recipes for green smoothies? Jessica, There's a Collard Green Smoothie recipe at dandelionbunch.com. I made a batch the other day for the first time. And it's pretty good. Certainly a good way to get your collard greens ;-) Jim.
Guest guest
I like to use a few frozen strawberries: 5 or 6, half an apple (this is vital...it totally mellows out the flavor), melon: whatever is cheapest or in season, some lemon, lime and/or orange (you can juice it or just cut it out of the peel), half an apple and some mild green lettuce like leaf lettuce that blends quite nicely. I have used kale on occasion but find it is a bit too chunky for my liking. Sometimes I use the baby greens. This combination is pretty mild tasting and your kids have a good chance of liking it too. If you add more strawberries, it's almost like gelato and you can eat it with a spoon. Personally, I don't like bananas but frozen bananas can work well in this too (they are picked green and are pretty tasteless by the time we get them here in Canada). Blackberries and blueberries are too chunky I find and taste better as a snack rather than in a smoothie. I froze tons of blackberries but find they don't work well in smoothies. I find mango is way too sweet and it makes me irritable and hyper so except for a very small amount, I tend to avoid it in smoothies. Have fun and if you discover some new combos post them here for us! Sharon rawfood , " moonblue400 " <jessica400 wrote: > > Does anyone have any good recipes for green smoothies?
