Does anyone have plans for a homemade dehydrator. I had one many years

ago but lost the plans along the way. Mine used a plug in car heater

and had vinyl screening. Sure would like to build a smaller version if

anyone can help out.

Back in the days of... one would just set a heat lamp, or light

bulb in the stove, with the food, and leave in there with the door

shut -- stoves vent naturally. Others would find an old discarded

small refrigerator (size of a small TV) and do the light bulb thing

with some small vents drilled in the top.

Being an ex-steel worker, we used to love old refrigerators for we'd

store our new and recently opened cans of welding rods in there with

one small heat lamp and it would keep the rods (and most important,

their powdered coatings) free of any moisture. The would stay warm

to the touch too which passed for the " pre-heating " part of welding

rods prior to use so the inspectors would be pleased... :)
