Hello Joe,

This was a heartening post! Perhaps you can help me if your sister is a dentist

and you eat

raw foods!

I went to my dentist on Tuesday for a cleaning/check-up, and ran into several

problems

perhaps you or someone else with more experience and/or knowledge can help me

with.

1) Antibiotics:

First off, I lied (which I don't like doing) and said I had taken the massive

amount of anti-

biotics I was supposed to have taken 4 hours before cleaning due to mitro-valve

prolapse

(I think that's why I'm supposed to take them--because a valve in my heart

doesn't close

properly and my heart could potentially become infected from the bacteria that

would be

dislodged from my teeth in the professional cleaning process.) I didn't want to

give them

legal liability by having them treat me though I hadn't followed protocol. Also,

I figured,

since I've only eaten raw foods 100% since my last cleaning (6-7 months ago) the

bacteria

in my mouth can't be that harmful.

Was that a stupid assumption? I am NOT a scientist.

2) Fluoride:

Then the dental hygienist handed me the cup of fluoride rinse and told me to

swish for a

minute. I thought: " I haven't used flouride toothpaste for over a year...maybe

my system

will be more sensitive now that I've been 100% raw for seven months? (I was

about 80% raw

before then.)...I have heard some nasty things about flouride...but those are

mostly from

conspiracy-theorist-types, and besides, everyone else takes flouride and they're

fine... "

So I poured it into my mouth, remembering, however, that homeopathic remedies

are

taken under the tongue because that's where stuff gets absorbed fastest, so I

tried to use

my tongue to protect that area from the nasty-tasting liquid while the hygienist

watched

the clock.

" Now spit! " she said after one minute. I did so with relief. Then to my dismay

she handed

me another cup of fluoride rinse and said " Just one more minute! " . I poured it

into my

mouth and tried to keep it in my cheeks where it wouldn't be absorbed as easily.

The taste became unbearable. My eyes were watering, but there was nothing to

spit into,

so I had to keep it in my mouth until she gave me the funnel-on-the-sucker

thing, one

whole minute later. She told me not to eat or drink for an hour. I told myself:

" I am not

even going to swallow for an hour! " and I grabbed a bunch of tissues.

From that point on, every time I felt the natural need to swallow, I spat

instead. Pretty

gross, maybe, but I wanted to be careful. I am sharing this my experience to

prevent if

possible others from suffering the same. Of course there will always be those

stubborn

ones (like myself) who must try everything for onesself to believe it, but for

you other,

prudent types, please take heed!

10 minutes after my treatment, as I exited the building, I was feeling a little

spacey, very

relaxed and apathetic. About 20 minutes after my treatment, as I was walking

towards the

metro--thank God I had not been driving!!--I suddenly had no idea where I was or

when I

was or where I was going, and had only the vaguest idea of WHO I was. I sat

down, feeling

very dizzy, having a confused notion of which way was up and which way was down,

and

breathed deeply, trying to collect myself. (I have experienced Lithium toxicity

before--long

story--which is similar, and so dealt with it instinctively the way I used to

deal with that.)

In less than a minute, I'm guessing, I remembered who and what and where I was,

and got

up to walk towards the metro again. After this point I totally lost track of

time. I remember

feeling like my legs were made of lead, and that the journey to the metro was

endless, and

excruciatingly slow. I remember thinking: " I should call an ambulance, or at

least Mama "

but then checking my phone and seeing it had died. (I definitely did not have

the with-it-

ness to go into a store to call or anything.) I remember a large woman on the

sidewalk

(downtown DC) seeing me stumble and giving me her elbow, and saying " Are you

okay,

girl? " I think I just said, " Thanks, I'll be fine, " out of habit, or because

explaining my state

would have been too confusing and difficult for me at the time. In any case, my

words

were so slurred--my jaw was stuck closed, it seemed!--that she probably wouldn't

have

understood me. Though I don't remember much at all after that, only strange

dreams and

sounds and swirling sensations, I must have somehow gotten to the metro and then

walked from my metro stop all the way home (thank goodness for dumb animal

routine

savoir-faire!) because I woke up on my living room floor about five hours later

with a VERY

sore jaw (my teeth must have been clenched tightly together while I

slept--again, that

" lockjaw " feeling) and feeling like I weighed 500 lbs.

Since then (now 2 days ago) I have felt generally out-of it, and increasingly

psychologicaly/chemically depressed, the same way one feels at the end of a

marijuana-

high, if I remember correctly (it's been a long while). Every so often, out of

nowhere I have

felt so weak I couldn't move for a few minutes, and every so often, I have

continued to

have semi-amnesiac moments lasting about 1 minute. I suspect these are symptoms

of

detoxification at this point, and expect they will not carry on too much longer.

The last time I got a flouride treatment I was eating about 80-90% raw. I might

have felt a

little spacey but no more. News to all who haven't found out the hard way for

themselves:

90% raw is VERY different from 100% raw in terms of one's reactions to unnatural

chemicals! Beware!

3.) Cavity, filling, and anasthesia:

Now I'm faced with another dilemma. Apparently I have one very tiny cavity. I'm

supposed

to get it filled today. I am most frightened of the anasthesia--might it have a

toxic effect

on me as the fluoride did? Does anyone 100% raw have experience with anasthesia?

4.) Wisdom teeth:

I'm 23 and mine are just coming in. The dentist says I MUST have them pulled,

which

would theoretically involve anasthesia too. Any ideas?

I would welcome any and all feedback! Thanks in advance and stay away from

poisons!!!

I have alot of problems with my teeth since having my two kids. I usually

have fillings and teeth pulled with just freezing and I don't seem to have

any problems I had my wisdom teeth pulled with freezing I felt great after

the freezing came out other than being sore and min swelling. You could try

having them done will a little freezing and then you shouldn't have any

problems
