Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am new to all of this and learning so much, thank you! I am considering getting either a juicer or a vitamix, which is the most important to get first? From what I am hearing, sounds like the vitamix would be better as it has the whole food in the mix. and does anyone know where to find good recipes online for vitamix or raw foods? thanks! Guest guest
Hi Deanna,, I bought a Jack LaLane juicer, although it works incredibly well, it is a pain in the patoot to clean..so I only used it twice. I prefer to blend my fruits so I keep the fiber and am not drinking just sugar water. But if you'd like a great deal on a juicer, just let me know! 8-)) Anna On 5/7/07, littlewing005 <littlewing005 wrote: > > > > Hi everyone, I am new to all of this and learning so much, thank you! Guest guest
I just recently purchased the J.L Healthmaster 100. I love it and it is cheaper than the vitamix. I also have a juicer which I use less because we enjoy the whole fruit and veggie thing and smoothies. There are times though when I just want the liquid to drink and using a recipe which calls for just the juice. If I had to choose one or the other, it would be a blender of sorts. You can do more with it. Guest guest
Hi Deanna, I just used a regular Oster blender for about a year to make smoothies. Then I got a Vitamix--it makes a smoother texture and blends greens better, if you like adding lettuce to smoothies. It also does frozen things (like bananas, etc.) much more easily than the regular blender. And I like the big container for the Vitamix. I used to have to do 2 batches w/the reg. blender. I've never really been into juicing. If you really love juice, you might want a juicer, but yeah, the benefit of the Vitamix is that the fiber, etc. isn't removed. I don't do too many recipes, but there are some in the files section of this group and there's a book that comes w/the Vitamix, plus there is tons of stuff online. Guest guest
I too recently purchased the Healthmaster 100 and join D'vorah in recommending it. It has the same max horsepower (2 HP) as the Vitamix at half the price. -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog rawfood , Dvorah Dollar <shakarsalpha wrote: > > I just recently purchased the J.L Healthmaster 100. Guest guest
The horsepower is interesting, but not the most important measure. What is the maximum rotational speed? (For example, 41,000 RPM on the Vita-Mix). Guest guest
I owned 2 Vitamixs before the 4500 and I find the HM 100 just as good. The only difference is the vitamix now comes with an extra container for grinding grain. Guest guest
I also use the vitamix. I chose the vitamix because they last for a very long time. Quite a few recommended the vitamix to me because they've had theirs for years without having to replace anything. If you can find one that does the same thing that's cheaper, that's great. Hopefully it's from a company that's been around quite a while.
