Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I know I haven't posted in a LONG time, but I am still here and have been LURKING for some time. I am ready to scream! I have been battling candida. I have read three different books on it and I still am confused to death and beyond. I am having an awful time losing weight. I am so tired I cant even think (which is why I think I struggle reading the books). I joined a gym over two months ago, and I go almost every day. I spend 2 1/2 hour minimum there per day doing cardio and weight training, and in two months, I haven't lost a single pound nor have I lost inches. My clothes feel tighter and I feel like crud. I am pretty sure I have a massive candida over growth. And I cant seem to get rid of it. Someone said if I stuck to a mostly raw diet that that would help, and I did that, and exercised like a nut and I am not getting any better. Some of you may remember that I do not have a thyroid. SO I am pretty sure that is part of the problem. I have been seeing a lady for 6 months or so that is an Estitician and she swears candida is my problem. She has " get rid of candida " program but it costs $1600 and I just cant afford to fork that kind of money out, and it takes 30 days. I don't expect an over night miracle, but I am so frustrated, don't know what to do, and don't seem to be eating the right foods. Has anyone done a candida cleanse? One that is affordable, and easy to do? I am so tired that I don't have time to CONCOCT crazy meals. I need to be able to grab and go as much as possible. I need to go to the doctor next week, is there a medication or supplement that helps? I am banging my head against the wall here! I am not 100% raw, maybe about 80%. Soooo Any help or advice would be so greatly appreciated. I know this topic has been discussed a lot, I have looked through some of the past files, but am hoping for a new miracle (I KNOW I KNOW!!!!) SIGH! Thanks everyone! Food fight? Enjoy some healthy debate in the Answers Food & Drink Q & A.

Guest guest
Hi there, I would recommend Dr. Graham's approach. Eat all the fruit and greens you want with NO overt fats (oils, nuts, seeds, avos, durian, coconut). It should work within a few weeks! I highly recommend you read his new book 80/10/10. Guest guest
wow..you poor kid..that sucks..i recommend seeing your doctor before doing anything else... dont pay 1600 for any program that nature can do for free..just educate yourself on whats really wrong and handle it naturally. aaaannddd...as a newly returned-to-the-gym-gym-rat...i have to say i think youre overtraining... if youre spending " at least 2.5hrs a day in the gym " you cant possibly lose weight...your body needs each and every calorie to deal with that load of exertion...unless youre an olympic athlete, thats way too much time...my guess is youre also not taking in enough calories to maintain that workload.... so the weight stays on. candida will throw all of the chemistry out of wack so getting that in check asap should be a priority.. but once that is done...pick a body type you want to look like, and do what they do...exercise like they exercise and eat what they eat....its that simple....(did she say simple????) want the body of a dancer, dance..and eat like dancers. want to look like a body-builder, lift weights, do cardio, and eat like they do. but you have to do it to the letter..be as anal and driven as they are....this is harder than it may seem.... athletes are amazing animals... if you just want to burn fat, eat clean, and exercise at a high intensity for 45 min 4-5days a week.. ....high intensity as in doing wind-sprints, running (not jogging) or spinning...sprinters are ripped, runners are ripped, bike racers are ripped..... their heart rates are in the 85%, or higher, zone when theyre working out...you have to shock your body...cross training is ideal for this. .....none of that gentle treadmill, stairclimbing stuff...that may improve your cardiovascular health, but it wont take off the fat...gyms are fffuullll of fat people on treadmills and stairclimbers.... its about the quality, not quantity.. peace anna On 5/9/07, Dobby the house elf <dobeythehouseelf wrote: > > Hi Everyone, I know I haven't posted in a LONG time, but I am still here > and have been LURKING for some time. > > I am ready to scream! > > I have been battling candida. Guest guest
From my own experiences with candida - I stay totally away from sweet fruit when it flairs up. For me, orange juice is the worst - and I stear clear of oranges most of the time. There are also supplements that you can take - that give me a splitting headache for a couple of days - then I feel much better. The one I really liked was called " Expore " - but they quit making it - and their substitute doesn't work for me. I also like to take 2 tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar in the morning. Maybe this can help you without spending $1600. Karin ______________________________\ ____ Need Mail bonding? Guest guest
How can it be that I am working out TOO much? I do about 45 min of the weight machine circuit 3X a week. I walk on tread mill for 20-45 min 5X a week I get in the pool and half ass swim for 25 min 4X a week Some days I take a water aerobics class Some days I do water pilates Some days I do yoga The rest of the hours at the gym are spent in the steam room and spa (LOL) I did not think I was over doing it. In fact I thought I wasnt doing enough. I have about 100lbs to lose and my doctor said if I dont exceed the amount of calories I take in, I wont lose weight. My personal trainer at the club set up my work outs, so I thought I was doing that part right. I only do what she set me up to do! I am not trying to get the body of anyone other than myself. I just want to lose all this extra baggage so I can be fit and healthy and fit in an airplane seat with out having to hold my breath for 5 hours (which isnt a bad idea on some planes anyways..lol) I was told my body wasnt responding to weight loss due to a candida over growth and that my body was just hanging on to every calorie. I will look into Dr Grahms book. I have already read 3 books on candida, 3 books on raw eating or other health plans and they all seem to contradict each other! I dont mind reading a book and getting information. I have read countless web pages, and after a while they all seem to promise the world and its hard to know which ones to believe! All I want to do is get rid of the excess candida, and lose weight. Im willing to do the work, now If I can just find a route that works! SIGH!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
having read only 1 brief email of yours i threw out a possibility..if it doesnt match your circumstances please disregard it. It is impossible to know all of your particulars in this format anyway...but overtraining while taking in too few calories is sometimes an issue. I maintain that working out over 2.5hrs a day is too much for the average person while cutting calories...its too much of a shock to the system....you yourself said it wasnt working...it cant all be candida for reasons others have illustrated very accurately on this list. But first and foremost do what your doctor recommends and follow your trainers advice..they know your body better than anyone here ever could. Regarding raw eating though...i have found my yeast infections clear up on raw..so i think it can work for you ultimately... best of luck 8~) anna On 5/10/07, Dobby the house elf <dobeythehouseelf wrote: > How can it be that I am working out TOO much? > > I do about 45 min of the weight machine circuit 3X a week. > I walk on tread mill for 20-45 min 5X a week > I get in the pool and half ass swim for 25 min 4X a week > Some days I take a water aerobics class > Some days I do water pilates > Some days I do yoga > The rest of the hours at the gym are spent in the steam room and spa (LOL) > > I did not think I was over doing it. Guest guest
I am going to order grahms book from amazon, but until it arrives... What can I eat to start minimizing the candida? can anyone give me suggestions for maybe 3-6 meals that are quick and easy to do...especially portable items, I am on the go most of the day in my car and dont have a lot of time to stop and sit down to eat....! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Any top foods to avoid, other than those with sugar or yeast (something I may not realize I am consuming?) Thanks everyone, you have been super helpfull! Guest guest
Dobby, If you actually want to get past this, then go on a monodiet of bananas only for a week. Eat only organic, ripe bananas, eat whenever you feel hunger and until you feel " full " (I realize you need to relearn the distinction between satiation and what most people call " full " .) That is ALL you need to. As an alternative, you can do the same with watermelon. One food--a sweet fruit--for one week, then write again. Oh, and leave some extra time for resting, you may need it! Guest guest
Ok...one all banana diet for a week has been started. One question.... I like to drink distilled water with liquid flavored (vanilla cream or peppermint) stevia. Do I need to cut out the stevia? Will it interfere? Thanks! And THANK YOU ALL for all of your help! Its much appreciated! Elchanan <Elchanan wrote: Dobby, If you actually want to get past this, then go on a monodiet of bananas only for a week. Guest guest
Better a straight monodiet, and much better whole fruits than juices. If one were to go this route, then cut up the citrus and sprinkle in the salad; don't juice it. HI Dobby, Eat all the fruit and salad (use orange or tangerine juice as dressing, mangoes are also yummy on salad) that you want. Don't eat ANY oils, nuts, seeds, avocados, durians or coconuts. Check out Dr. Grahams message board at www.vegsource.com --scroll down the left hand side of the main page to find it. Guest guest
Hi again, and you're welcome! Regarding your questions, flavorings manipulate and desensitize your taste buds. (I mean, anyone's taste buds. This, in turn, inhibits the satiation mechanism--which occurs in the mouth--from working properly. My suggestion is to drop them for this week, and to come face to face with yourself in every way ... what you smell like, what your mouth really tastes like, etc. Literally, get to know yourself, then choose the self you wish to become during the weeks and months ahead. It can become quite a wonderful adventure, if you approach it from a place of curiosity and wonderment. Guest guest
I would recommend Sick & Tired: Reclaim Your Inner Terrain by Dr. Robert Young, PhD. It should be a must-read, honestly. I would also highly recommend coconut oil - it is antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial - very medicinal and healing. Alkalizing greens. The ACAI BERRY is a non-sugar at all FRUIT you can find frozen at some health food stores. That and stevia can help you make some great fruit smoothies with greens..... Seed pate' wrapped in a leaf, with more veggies, is a great and filling meal. Marinated or plain organic vegetable assortments are great, including cauliflower mashed potatoes. :-) OR cauliflower and parsnips can make a great rice. HAS EVERYONE BEEN HERE? www.thesunnyrawkitchen.blogspot.com It is AMAZING and the directions are impeccable. The pictures are to fawn over, for sure. :-) Erica

I don't actually think I'm going to be able to cut it out completely; today I didn't manage to resist two purple grapes. I'll see how it goes..but am cutting out Marmite yeast extract (sob!)so things might all come together. I believe garlic is also 'anti-fungal', but are there are any other raw foods that forum members can recommend to get rid of candida overgrowth (hope that's the right term :-)) just a little bit quicker? Guest guest
i have been struggling with a combination of yeast and bacterial vaginosis since january. i am about to go crazy with all the different treatments...ranging from purely " natural " to full on prescription medications...both oral and vaginal....not to mention NO SEX!!!!!!!!! it is unbelievable that a simple monodiet could cure this problem. but i am willing to try anything at this point. i'm wondering if this would work for the bacterial infection as well. i too have been told for as long as i can remember to stay away from fruit if you have yeast infections (my mom's a diabetic, so she says this a lot). but one thing i know for certain is that most things i " learned " growing up were wrong. so i don't doubt that this could be wrong as well. we'll see. thanks!!! laura Elchanan <Elchanan wrote: Dobby, If you actually want to get past this, then go on a monodiet of bananas only for a week. Have you douched with antifungals diluted in water at all? Also, you can make vaginal suppositories with coconut oil (antifungal) and garlic juice. Write me if you want to know more. I know this from studying Dr. Richard Schulze's rare " You Can Save Your life " series(I think it's called that!) put out by Sam Biser. I will be curious to see how the banana diet works for you.... VERY curious. My symptoms never subsided on bananas.
Guest guest
Yes, garlic is great. So is extra virgin coconut oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Samento and Cumanda (herbs), Olive Leaf Extract, Oregano Oil -- these are all very powerful adjuncts and supplements to an anti-candida protocol. You want to: 1) stop feeding the candida. 2) Start killing the candida that is already in you 3) Start building a healthy ecosystem in your body - namely, ingest quality probiotics/fermented foods regularly. Basically, I would try the 80/10/10 approach for a few weeks if fruit is easiest for you. See how you respond. Some have experienced relief from it, and I don't discredit other's experiences. Or, try reading SICK AND TIRED: RECLAIM YOUR INNER TERRAIN by Robert Young, PhD. and RAINBOW GREEN LIVE FOOD CUISINE, by Dr. Gabriel Cousens, for a step by step anti-candida raw food diet that is loaded with tasty recipes. I would also CONFER with Donna Gate's work with THE BODY ECOLOGY DIET, but she is really outdated with her animal product recommendations, etc (imho) and it is sad to see. But she has had MAJOR success and due to her principles, and one of them is truly the emphasis on fermented foods. Young coconut milk kefir and more, ALL very tasty and ridiculously HEALING. Hope that helps. There are no right and wrongs, honestly. Just experiences to learn from. You'll get there. We're all impatient with it because candida stinks, but there are a lot of blessings in it so take it one day at a time. best, Erica
