Guest guest
Well I am on my 4th day of my banana experiment! I tell ya what...I'M GLAD I DID IT! I can feel a difference in how I feel already. Although yesterday I had a dull, not too bad, headache almost all day, and I was up to use the bathroom 4 times in the middle of the night (all that water..lol) Other than that, its been pretty easy to deal with. I wasn't eating enough the first two days, so I upped my banana count the last two days, and that has helped. I have come down 10 pounds in 4 days. I know its water weight, but to think that I had 10 pounds of water just sitting there not doing anything is weird to realize. But the nice thing is I dont feel bloated like I did a few days ago. My favorite pair of shorts are lose on me now! That was cool to discover. When only 5 days ago, I couldn't even button them.... But I FEEL, amazingly better. I am not near as tired as I had been, and I dont feel as cranky! I will continue to do the banana thing, and look forward to getting my 811 book in the mail...(they aren't mailing till tomorrow..bummer..lol) But hopefully by the time it gets here, I can have my body in a more favorable condition to begin it. I have done the Master Cleanser (lemonade diet) and I prefer this banana thing. You don't fell as hungry, and I feel more stable on it! Thanks Elchanan for suggesting it. This is truly the best I have felt in a while. It's here! Your new message! Get new email alerts with the free Toolbar.

Guest guest
Hi Kristi, Would you be willing to say more about the " roadblock " , as you describe it? In what ways to experience progress, and/or lack of progress? Also, what are you eating (quantities, not just items)? Have you gone onto either Nutridiary or Fitday and worked with a personal food diary for a few days? You may just be dramatically undereating. Guest guest
I haven't been totally raw for a while. I was just getting back into it when we ended up with a ton of house visitors for a three week period. And living in las vegas, everyone who visits wants to GO OUT. Not to many health friendly restaurants on the strip.....so for a three week period, I slid backwards a few steps. I had most of these problems before even that..... I havent started the 811 yet. I am waiting for my book to arrive....in the mean time, I am trying to CLEAN house, so that I have a much cleaner slate to start with. The first day, I only ate like 7 bananas.....and I felt horrible, I was really shaky, and hungry. SO I upped it to at least 8 more like 12 a day. I basically just started eating 2-3 at once....then waiting at least a 1/2 hour to make sure that satisfied me. Then every time I felt a hunger coming on, I would eat 2 more..... That's basically it. I'm on day 4 now, and I dont feel near as hungry. And another thing I noticed, and it didn't dawn on me till about an hour ago.... (quick background here) I have no thyroid, and one of the side affects I have had since they obliterated my thyroid is, I have been susceptible for anxiety attacks frequently. My Dr. gave me the lowest dose of Xanex and when ever I would feel an attack coming on, I would take one and that would be that. I used to take two a day like clock work......the last two months or so, I have only taken them on occasion. Maybe one every other day or so. I have noticed that in the last 4 days, I haven't had any. I havent even felt the least built panicky or anxious....so I don't know if that has anything to do with cleaning house....but I seem calmer and less jittery in that sense! I also notice that I am not as itchy....the back of my knees used to always itch and so did my back....I have a wooden back scratcher that I used to scrape across my back until it was red.....I havent touched it in 3 days...... So I am hoping that this is my body telling me its starting to feel a tad bit better.... More updates later! Kristi <pixiechik wrote: How long were you raw before you tried this? Guest guest
Well, I haven't lost any weight this week, (9 days now!) but I lost 14 in the 1st 3 weeks, so I really can't complain. But it has stopped completely, and I have a ways to go. . I feel good, am sleeping well, haven't had headaches or been super grouchy (two very prominent detox reactions I usually have.) Headaches " should've " come 2 weeks ago, but never did. I've been a bit grouchy lately, but not much and very short spurts and I can talk myself out of the mood. They grouch factor usually hits at about 3 weeks. I think I am not eating enough, which is why I wanted to know how many bananas she is eating a day. I eat probably 4-6 bananas a day and a large salad of some sort with not too much dressing, but a variety of tender greens and peppers, tomatoes, celery, onion, mushrooms and raisins, or a greek-type salad or a more of a slaw-type (It's called rainbow slaw, every color is in there). Sometimes another random fruit and I try to drink a kombucha a day. Sometimes I'll make a soup. I have put my info in Fitday, and usually arrive at about 950-1000 cals. Dont get me wrong- I'm gonna do it this time, and stick with it. I just want to see some traction. The other times I have begun raw, I was eating high-fat, gourmet raw. I have totally changed my thinking and have not even had an avocado (and only one coconut). I do use olive oil in my salad dressing, but I'm going to try to lessen that by gradually reducing the amount of dressing I use. Ive been following your posts about this and it is something I think I want to try. Soon. I did see she answered and is eating 9-14 bananas, if I recall. I an do that, and right now I have ripe bananas coming out of my ears! ~kristi On May 14, 2007, at 3:09 PM, Elchanan wrote: > Hi Kristi, > > Would you be willing to say more about the " roadblock " , as you > describe it? > In what ways to experience progress, and/or lack of progress? > > Also, what are you eating (quantities, not just items)? Guest guest
Hi Kristi, As I read your list of foods, my head said " 1000 calories " , then I saw your 950-100 calories. Sounds roughly correct to me ... and unsustainably low. Yes, add a bunch of bananas (rather literally) a day, see how that helps. We can refine, you can vary the foods, but when you start out, simplicity really helps. Glad all this information is valuable to you! One point on " weight loss " . Well, two points, actually. First, I suggest that you remove that phrase from your active vocabulary, now and forever. For what we can lose, we can find (and usually do!!) Instead, I suggest thinking about returning to the Earth that which has served you until now, and which you no longer need and wish to give back for alternate use. In other words, recycle it, don't " lose " it. Best, Elchanan - not an elf , not from Guelph, yet with a rather strong sense of self. Oh good heavens, what's THAT about!! ?? Guest guest
Erica, I disagree. The candida DISCUSSION may have triggered this exploration, but I believe Dobby has a much more expansive set of health goals in mind. More than that is for her to share, as and if she wishes. Also, as I said before, candida cannot be " cured " . Instead, what we can do is create a healthy system inside us that is simply not a favorable home for candida ... and for many other organisms at the same time. Guest guest
I am doing this to get my candida under a sense of controll...but I also wanted to start healing my body. I am amazed at the benefits so far. I have tried fasting and clenses in the past, and never made it through to many of them with out struggling and starving. Eating only bananas is pretty easy, and I am starting to see some amazing results... No I dont plan to eat this way the rest of my life. But its a good way (in my opinion) to give your body a rest and a chance to start cleaning house in a gentle yet effective way. It may not be for everyone, and I dont expect my candida to be undercontroll in one week. But at least Im not feeling worse, and I feel emotionally hopeful and optomistic that I am finally on a better path! I look forward to learning the 811 way, so far, it seems to work for me where other attempts have failed! Erica <schoolofrawk wrote: All of these benefits are to be expected. Step one: peel and eat a banana Step two: See step one Basically you are eating banana when you are hungry and eliminating ALL ELSE...except water of coarse. And I have found it to be very effective so far! Good luck! sarah shaw <hppymummy wrote: Hi I think I might have missed it but can you post the instructions on the banana thing I am interested in trying it. Guest guest
I'm rather confused about this idea. Can you explain some of the " science " or nutrition behind eating only one type of food? Are you taking vitamin supplements in addition? How long are you supposed to just eat bananas and water? If all you are losing is water weight is that really helpful to your body? It's sounds like an interesting idea. I just need more background info before I can really understand why you are doing it. Guest guest
Hi Becky, I suggested this course of action in the first place, which is why I'm responding to your request. Would you be willing to search the group archive, author contains " Elchanan " , going back about 10 days. You'll find a wealth of information, and I won't have to repeat it all.
